Sound deadening removal.
I know there are a few guys on here that have taken out the tar and fuzz underneath their carpet. How much weight can I save by taking that stuff out? If the carpet is put back, is there alot more road noise than stock?
I hear dry ice works great to make the tar hard so you can chip it out easier.

You can heat it up and it gets soft and you can get a puddy knife and get it off. I would say it is at least 20 pounds. Not worth it unless it is a dedicated race car..
Don't do it unless its a dedicated race car.. The dry Ice method works much better than the heat/puddy knife, I have done both.. I took 15lbs just from doing the trunk and the rear seats, if I do the front floor, I expect another 15lbs.
I took out all of the sound deadening material and insulation, man was it messy. That stuff does not like to come out. I used a putty knife on the tar but didn't get it all off. I did it one weekend when I was at the beach.
As far as weight, it ended up amounting to about 10lbs TOPS. I did not weight it, but a lot came out. I really just wanted to shampoo the carpet, and it snowballed!

i don't own a lude but when i took all mine out of my 94 civic, and put it in a box, it came to about 27lbs. i took off everything i could find. and i did it when it was cold. like 30. it was warmer inside the garage, but still no heating needed.
