Default Ignition install help!!!

well tonight i attempted to install my mallory highfire VI ignition. we ran into a problem however.

on the diagrams for the mallory and the stock setup it says to take the three wires (attaching to the bottom of the factory coil) and combine them all together. these three wires attach to one red wire going to the ignition box.

granted yes, it says to do it, but i dont like the looks of it so we went back to stock for the night.

does anyone have any experiance with this? why would all three wires go together?

TIA

Doug

I put a MSD SCI on my 95 SI, and you had to combine two wires instead of 3. I couldn't figure it out myself, but once I called MSD, they solved it quick....So I guess just call mallory

from my experience this is correct... (sorry i don't know the wire colors off hand) the 2 thick wires go together and are the pos. the thin other wire is neg.

hell no that didnt help. i wish it would have though.

this ignition is friggin crazy man. there are like 15 wires on it and the instructions are confusing as hell. all the rev limiters and everything that it has just complicates stuff.

oh and that promaster coil.... jeez that thing is huge. its about 2"x2"x4"

here is a pic for installing this damn thing. notice how it says to connect all other wires origionally connected to the - terminal. same with the positive. i just dont buy it. why in the hell would you put all three of those wires together??? they get seperated for a damn reason.

maybe im looking at the wrong one, but i dont think so. all the install instructions are on this page.

if you do it can you go back? if you can undo it why not just do as it says?
