Default Help with Removing Lower Transmission Brace/Changin Oil Pan on 96 LX

It looks like I need to remove the transmission brace which is covering some of the oil pan nuts along with the A pipe from the exhaust to change the oil pan on my car.

Do I need to support the transmission with a jackstand or something when I do this? Is that brace easy to remove/reattach?

Also, can I get away with just removing the A pipe where it attaches to the header/catalytic convertor and letting it hang. Will that give me enough clearence to drop the pan and put the new one in?

Otherwise I will have to tackle some very deteriorated spring loaded bolts that hold the A/B pipe together.

Thanks

I just changed my oil pan today on my 97 dx.

That brace you're talking about connects the tranny and block I believe. You dont need to support the tranny. There are 4 bolts, two on the tranny (14mm I believe) and two on the block (12mm I believe). Its easy to remove/reattach

Yes you can get away with just removing the A pipe which is what I did but it was annoying.
