Default Is there something wrong with our ignition system?

Does any one else have a bit of problems with there ignition system. I replaced my dizzy, 6 months later my coil and roter button, 3 months later another roter button. Now my car just shut off again while I was driving and I'm not getting any fire. Are there any other options?

MSD ignition, ive gone through 3 coils because that little nipple that comes off the dizzy cap breaks and melts the coil. Im just going to run a msd external coil from now on so that way i dont have to worry bout that damn nipple

The factory distributor works just fine, just get the coil out of it.

Use an MSD coil. They work really well, just dont get the blaster ss, they are failure prone.

Uh yeah, the reman dizzy is $200 with core exchange. I can't even find anywhere that sells new ones.

Well got the car back yesterday after taking the dizzy back and getting another one. Well started to go to work today and poof, did the same thing. I'm thinking the coil again. My dad made a suggestion that made me wonder. Could my ECU performance chip be causing it? I know it advances your timing and givies more fuel. Still it shouldn't be messing up dizzys like this. What MSD coil and dizzy cap do I need?

The mech said it was my dizzy. SO I took mine back since I had a warranty on it . SO he puts the next one on and it did it again this mourning on the way to work.

man i think you have a serious problem with your wiring... i have never heard of a dizzy/coil/igniter giving anyone as much trouble as it has to you... i can understand if you bought a 13 year old car and had to replace it due to it being so old but not over and over again... like i said i think your dizzy is only the surface of the real problem... maybe try a new wiring harness... its cheaper than a dizzy

try buying a real TEC coil.. thats proably your problem.. i've seen many aftermarket coils goto **** fast.. not as fast as your describing but pretty quick.
but yeah.. i think you ECU is killing the dizzy somehow, try switching it out for a known working one.. put in a TEC Coil.. and give it a try

Try buying a used OEM unit from some one, should solve your problems. The distrubutors seem to be trouble for those that don't do maintenance. On a D series, whole different story. My freinds car had original wires/cap/rotor on it until this year, and it was a pace car at a race track for the first 5 years of it's life.
