A funny Story some of you may enjoy
I was coming back from the mall when I see a Yellow Type-r. I've only seen a few type-r's around so I was estatic. Sure enough the owner was coming back from the mall a few seconds later and I got to talk to him. He obviously knew nothing about the car, infact when I called his car an "R" he looked puzzled. He said he was pissed off because the original owner ripped him off and put a shitty "old style front end" on. I was confused as hell at this point. I look at his front end and sure enough it's a jdm type-r front. I don't remember what exactly I said, but it was something along the lines of "DUDE THATS A JDM TYPE R FRONT END, ANY INTEGRA OWNER WOULD SELL HIS SOUL FOR THAT" yelling really loud in the parking lot. Apparently a friend of his told him to get an integra because they are reliable. He saw an ad in the paper that simply stated he was selling an integra (not at all it was a type-r). The owner was in a hurry to sell because he was going into the military and the guy bought it a day later. Then when he brought it home the guy who told him to get an integra said it had the shitty first gen front end because it probably got in an accident and the original owner wanted to save cash. He said he didn't like his front end and would rather have my integra
I told him a bunch of websites to do research on, specifically team-integra.net. As I left I said "I don't think you will ever realize what you have right there, I know people who would kill to have that car"

haha, naa I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. Althought driving around all day would make me feel better
Anyone know the guy who sold it to him? He left for the military a few days before new years. It's a yellow type-r, 2000-2001 (obviously) jdm front end and pretty much stock.

You beat me to it. Since this guy is totally clueless about his car, I'm sure he is clueless about the Honda theft problem.
I would definitely ask him to trade cars.

I would have told him this, "Well man, i mean i dont think it looks that bad. I was gonna trade my in and if your interested in trading i think we could work something out". Dood, that was a sucker waiting to ripped off. Maybe it wouldnt be the right thing to do, but oh well if the guy doesnt even know what he has. I'd like one of those "old style front ends" as well. Good story!!!
Yeah, agreed. What a tool.
I waited years to find my 98 CW mint former show kaa for cheap, and I was lucky to get a JDM nose too. I was just net surfing, knowing I needed a car soon as my Toyota truck with 300K was dying, and not really ready to buy a car. But then I suddenly had to make the deal over several hours, culminating at 2:00 in the am, sight unseen, on the net via e-mail, except for pics. I was already sick as a dog, but I had to call in to work, convince my girl it was a good idea before she left for work, go to the bank at 9a, move cash around between accounts and pay fees, rent a car and pay the one way drop off fee, drive 600mi with 15K in my pocket, to the seedy bad part of SF Cali. I had to call in a favor to have my bud sit across the street in his bimmer with his AK in case the deal went south, then come up with $500 at the last second to beat out 4 other buyers, return the rental, go out for beers and dinner with said bud, then drive an unknown car back home 600 mi alone in the dark at 2a with no cell phone, sick, and no sleep for 36 hours through rural America.
If he thinks it's ugly, just take it off his hands and everyone will be happy. There is no shame in that.
Good to see you are honest tho. (Wouldn't be able to sleep at night comment).
LOL
I woudn't be able to sleep at night knowing I left without getting his phone number to do a trade!
Maybe 3000-4000 R's left, and this guy has no idea he has the best handling car around, that everyone would give their left nut for. Buy a GSR, foo!, and get leather and not stunna yellow! Then again, who in NYC uses handling on the street unless they know they have an R?
<----Ill who shakes his head, but laughs at the funny story! Thanks for sharing. I need to know the world is full of idiots that I don't work with.

don't speak for all of us integra owners. I'd only buy a car with the jdm front end if I could change it back to us spec, paint it, etc and still come out cheaper than a stock usdm itr.
Are you sure this wasn't a dream or something? Wouldn't someone get a clue after driving around for years and seeing maybe a handful of yellow Intergras. Then again, the original owner of my R bought it because he liked the way his wife's 1990 Integra drove and I guess the salesperson told him why he should put a deposit down on an R.
