Default broke my car tonight

well, i was at the track tonight and on my launch i heard a loud snap, crackel, crunch, i immediatly shut down and pulled to the side. i'm hoping it's only an axel but after further thought i'm scared it might not be.

the car was still running fine so i know its not the motor but nothing was hanging down and the car rolled fine with out making any noise. as soon as it's in gear and i let the clutch out it makes a terrible grinding noise and starts to jerk. has anyone ever ran into a problem like this before?

i have an ACT clutch (HD pres. plate, six puck) could this cause the jerking when i let the clutch out trying to turn the other axel? hopefully it's not too serious, like a destroyed tranny! let me know if you guys can think of anything it could be. thanks! sorry this is so long

does the car move????if it doesnt could be 2 things a blown dif(which could happen depends tho) or the joint in the axle is completely destroyed i snapped my axle like that doing a burnout in the staging area and didnt notice it until i tried to move and it went no where. just reved and made a weird noise.

jack the car on stands, take the wheel off and start teh car. put the car into gear and look to see if one side isnt moving. look at the halfshafts on the axle too see if its spinning if one side isnt and see if the boot isnt moving. then u just snapped an axle. common with people more likely than a dif unless u got some serious hp

I was running a unsprung 6 puck with a B16 tranny on my GSR motor and something similar happen to me. What I believed happen was the the clutch causing to much shock and blew the tranny. b16 trannys are known for being weak. I think i broke the ring gear and I drove it home anyways bad idea haha and it just locked up. Pull the tranny and there was a big hole in it and pulled the casing and all the gears were stripped of its teeth. Hope yours isnt anything like that. Let us know how it looks.

I would say due to you having a act clutch you may have blown the clutch disk..very common for the weak act's to do that..I have done broke 2 of them myself.the puck disk spins the splines right out the hub.

yeah a little chunk of the inner houseing broke off and some other minor stuff so i'm gonna probably end up replacing alot of the stuff inside. if the price gets too high i might just look into getting a type r tranny

I own a shop (rollinchassis.com) and i had a lot of customer well a five of them that had blown their b16a tranny as soon as they put an aftermarket clutch on. all of my customer used gsr or type r tranny now. they have no problem with blowning their tranny. well what i tring to said is it cheaper to buy a used gsr tranny then to rebuilt your. you might run it to other problem beside the the spider gear. here are some of the other thing that might being going out that i run into the diff, spine for the clutch.
