Contemplating a few things..............
I was wondering what you guys would do with 5,000-6,000?
Its my first bike. The options I am weighing now are..
1)1999-2002 Yamaha YZF-R6
2)2003 Honda 600RR
3)2000-2002 Suzuki GSX-R 750
In those orders.
I want the Honda 600RR but it is my first bike and it is a little expensive. There fore I really want like a $4,000 1999 R6. I know it is still a very nice bike, but it is considerably cheaper. Wondering what you real rider pros w/ experience think?

600rr will be overkill for you, if you want honda, get an f4i. The r6 is a very nice bike, I am in love with yamaha blue, and the thing will have plenty of power. The 750 will be the fastest, most racy position of all... it all depends on what you want... for what you have to spend, get the r6, i don't think you'll be dissapointed.
Get the R6 if that's what you want, although I would suggest a '91-'94 Honda CBR600 F2 or '95-'98 F3.
The RR will be more expensive to insure because it's newer, the Gixxer because it has more displacement.
(Geez, Volpe beat me on both posts....hahaha)

Yeah thats what I am leaning towards(r6). I do know a local friend w/ a F3 for sale for pretty cheap! I wont be as afraid of the F3 at first like the R6,gsxr750, or 600rr. I wont really mind if I drop it, or when I drop it! F3 is pretty nice tooo. humm....

You will drop your bike, everyone does, I promise.

It really depends on what bike I get. If I get an F3 I really could care less about Insurance. R6 or better I will be getting at least theft!

Think so? You'd be suprised what insurance can cost for a new rider.
And you might want to cosider full coverage

Get an F3 or atmost an F4, you won't be dissappointed . . . plus it'll last you through all the little quirks and mistakes you make when you first start riding . . .
you know, there might be a reason everyone on here says the same damn thing. Maybe its b/c we're not dead, in a coma, in jail or scared shitless of riding. It might have something to do w/ making good decisions.
id get the f3 to start on, invest the money you saved in good leathers and a helmet, your life is worth more than how nice your bike is. once you get some experience riding, then start lookin at nicer bikes.
if u really want an r6, im sellin my 02, and can work a set of extra plastics into the price. my first bike was an r6, ive never had any trouble with it. im sellin to get the new one.

go with whatever you want and can afford. U can learn fine off an r6, just dont get too cocky. My first bike was a ex500, but only rode it in my neighborhood (never insured). First bike to ride around was my f4i. As long as you dont go in over your head you will be fine. I dont go extra fast on turns, straights, etc that being said i've never dropped my bike *knock on wood*.
gsxr 750 is a big bike man....i knwo most of you begginer guys are afraid to go with a big bike as a first bike...so if thats how you feel better rule out the 750..

good for you. f3 is pretty hot looking. The f2 has hints of being outdated but not too many people can tell an f3 from anything else. I just noticed this from seeing one the other day. People were making comments about a hot bike and I noticed it was an f3. Didn't say anything.
Have youthought about insurance and gear? Not to mention maintenance and class fees?

I think you should take the 5000 and buy a car so that you have dependable transportation. I happen to live in florida too and am familiar with the weather conditions in the summer months...rain, rain, rain. I do not think it is a good way to get from miami to boca either. If it does begin to rain, you a stuck and usually you drive home late and there are a bunch of drunk drivers on the road. Get a nice new dependable car! One that will make a 3 HOUR drive enjoyable!! One that has airconditioning for the summer!! One that i can drive (automatic). Then with the other 1000 dollars i would take your girlfriend "or what-ever" on a very relaxing, MUCH deserved vacation, to make up for friday night. Just wanted to throw another option in there.
...by the way you dont have a stock LS.

Really??? I haven't yet....and I started out on a R1 as my first bike, not every one stunts or races there bike </TD></TR></TABLE>
Stunting or racing has nothing to do with it. You *will* drop it, at the very moment you least expect it.
NA Gen2Teg: don't sweat the difference between an F3 and an R6 from a handling/power standpoint. Even the F3, F2, or original CBR (Hurricane) is waaaaay more bike than you will be able to utilize for quite some time.

hum thats weriod I never dropped my bike for the 4 years I had it or any of the other 3 bikes since then and yes stunning and racing has alot to do with it....if you ride like a sain person and watch out for other people you have a high chance of not dropping it

Just invest a few hundred dollars in frame sliders or a crash cage when you're just starting out, I guarantee it's a hell of a lot better than a 900 dollar bill when you go down in a parking lot.
Oh and by the way, if you want something like the 600RR for cheaper the GSX-R600 is the closest to it. It's got great torque down low and still has the HP in the higher revs, and you can pick one up for under 5000 dollars that has fuel injection, which the R6 won't have.
The Kawasaki ZX-636R is about as close as you can get to a street legal race ready 600, but from what I've heard, they have a really high powerband and they're pretty twitchy so not a good idea for a beginning rider.
If you really want my opinion, by the cheapest bike you can find that runs (400 dollars at most) and ride the hell out of it until you feel comfortable with the basic controls on a motorcycle then get the bike you really want, that way you can enjoy it more without having to worry about learning on it.
