Default Exhaust for a Type R

I have an Integra Type R with a turbo on it. You can check it out at http://www.scottstyper.s5.com I need a 3" exhaust system and was looking for something that doesn't sound extrmeley "Ricey" so i was checking out the Greddy EVO and i was wondering if that is good and what else it good. Thanks.

Don't know about the Greddy, but the 3" Thremal R & D exhaust sounded good with my old setup.

i think the skunk2 is 2.36. How much money do yo uhave to spend? John at hytech could make you a 3inch exhaust, but itd cost you. If you dont have loads of money go with thermal R&D, or kteller8s stuff.

I run the 2.5" on my R.

pick up this in 3", and whatever muffler you want. It can be installed @any local muffler shop. If you don't like it horribly loud, pick up a resonator as well

Does Greddy make a 3" for the R? 70mm is nowhere near 3". Go custom. That's what i decided on when I wanted to go up to just 2.5". I added two resonators (just like the stock system), and replaced the cat with a cheap ($25) glasspacked muffler. Even with a straight-through magnaflow muffler it wasn't that loud at all. The Greddy evo is a lot louder even at only 60mm.

even though there are no emissions tests here I had originally planned on a high flow cat. They flow just about the same as a test pipe. Then I started reading all of these threads about how the Catcos and Carsounds were going bad (rattling, clogging) within a year or two. Those things are too damn expensive to be replacing that often. So I just used the glasspack as a testpipe. It was cheap and quiet.

awsome looking set up. i'd as well have a muffler shop custom make you the 3" from front to back. as far as mufflers go it's really what sounds best to you, a turbo specific muffler would probably be best in your case

3" is pretty big unless you are running some major boost...BTW how much boost are you pushing?

Unless you are over 350, theres no need for anything over a 2.5" exhaust. This is a proven fact.

I believe the T1R or the Thermal would both be great choices for you

I thought so too for a while, until I heard a few turbo Honda's that sounded BAD.

It just amazes me how much of a sound difference there is between different exhaust systems and mufflers and what not.

So...say you're making 310whp (boosted) with a 60mm exhaust and then you install a full 3inch, that wouldnt make any difference?? Who proved this fact? Maybe you're thinking of a downpipe, certain applications wont benefit from stepping up to a 3inch downpipe.

To the poster, go with the Thermal 3inch and you wont be dissapointed.

70mm = 2.755905509" hahahaha. I'd say that'll suffice for a turbo street application. Even with the turbo 3" sounds like a tank...even at idle. if your in the area of 250whp then 2.5" will suffice. if your in the neighborhood of 300+ then 3" is the only way to go. I'd still recommend KTeller8 aka Mike. great service and extremely fast delivery both times i bought some plumbing!

I've heard a few cars with the Thermal, and they sounded great. According to the owners, they made good power too.
