It has come to my attention that i may need new lost motion assemblies. I would like some from an ITR but i dont exactly know what they look like. If someone has a picture of some and any info of how much they cost or where i can get them from, it would be appreciated. I heard they were like 30 bucks a piece and you need eight but i dont know if thats true....any info is greatly appreciated....peace!

here are some pics I jacked..

Do you have the "vtec supplement"?
If not ,you can download it at
http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/
{It is in adobe acrobat which is kind of a pain..}But after you download it
-Print out- pages 5-49 and 5-50 (much easier to read that way)..
basically you must remove everything in
picture 5-49 in addition to the distributor(if the bad LMA is on the intake side)...
and/or the spool valve if the LMA is on the exhaust cam and thats the easy part...
If you are only replacing one "LMA" as opposed to the whole set,you will only have to remove the camshaft that is ajacent to the LMA you are replacing.
Now for the fun part..The rocker arms in sets of threes are mounted on a
rocker shaft and must be removed before the LMA will come out; after you remove the oil control orifices and "sealing bolts"See page 5-50,These are on both the passenger side and the drivers side of the head, the rocker shaft will slide outward,For the front rocker shaft I had to unbolt the drivers side mount and jack up the engine slightly so that the shaft would clear the mount.I had to slide the shaft to the right side to get at two of them and then side it out the left side to get at the other two.{The rear set was slightly easier}I will probably pull my valve cover back off in the next day or so and I will take some pics for you..
Now that I have totally confused you...any questions?
I spent probably 3-4 hours doing it,but it was well worth my time...

The B16 LMA's are different than the B18C1/B18C5 LMA's but you can use either one.

is one type of LMA better than the other?
and to clarify something, a LMA is basically a support for the nonengaged vtec lobes to prevent them from just whirling around free. (and that's to prevent them from bending the cam, right?

The ITR unit is probably little stronger as far as the spring pressure
as it was used on a higher lift cam..
What it does if prevents the middle rocker from "slapping up and down"
when it is not connected to the outside rockers..It acts much like the shock absorber in your suspension does.
Without it,It would not bend the cam,but it could damage the rockers or the lobes of the cam from the repeated hard contact.. When it starts to fail,It sounds like a valve has gone out of adjustment..
When vtec engauges, the center rocker is mechanically connected to
the two outside rockers so they act as one running off off the
much larger center lobe of the cam..
see this: http://www.howstuffworks.com/question229.htm for more details..

i bought and installed the ITR LMA's in my b16 head and what a world of a difference.....no more ticking coming from the valvetrain and sound soooo quiet. Also if you only have one bad one go ahead and replace them all while you have the rockers off. They do go for about 26 to 30 a piece at the dealership but some sites have jdm itr and ctr ones for like $145 to $250 shipped......
