Default welding 2.0" > 2.5"

can you weld 2" piping directly to 2.5" piping directly with a mig welder without any kind of reducer in between?

I did a 2.25 to 2.50. I was welding from left to right though to fill up the gap..good luck..

but im thinking i wont be able to make the angle with a reducer, it looks like it would hang real low to the ground. thats the only reason why

Then cut off some piping from the upper smaller pipe. You want that reducer, and you can somewhat angle it a good bit if you mess w/ it. I made the reducer I used on my muffler work w/ some massaging.

you dont have a pipe flaring tool??? can get one for cheap and its ratchet operated or compressed air attachement - ask the snap on guy when he comes by in the truck. cant guarantee the quality of your welds.

i will probably just bring it in to the local exhaust shop and have them flare it to 2.5" for me

if u ran a fiew beeds and build up u could do it its only like a 1/4 inch gap on both sides. but i would suggest getting a flair tool u never know when u could use it.

ive always wondered if something like this could actually expand good thickness piping?


ill probably be getting this though kinda primative but heat and hit
both are snapon BTW

any store like auto zone try maby using a torch to heat up the metal first but be careful not to do it to far because it will crack.
