anti theft idea yay or nay
k i was just wondering if this has any negative aspects or can damage my ecu.
i was wondering if i disconnect my ecu every night b4 i go to bed and take the ecu inside as a form of protecting my baby from THIEVES will this screw anything up when i have to plug it in when i drive the car?
my ecu is already chipped and i have to let the car run a lil bit and warm up everytime i drive it or it will wanna cut out or not wanna move at all. i don't know if the chip will get screwed if i always have to remove the ecu?
anyone doing this for their car??????

instead of removing the ECU just remove the fuse underneith the hood, third fuse from the right, should be i think a 10amp. Does the same thing
Nope, shouldn't be a problem at all. If you feel like unplugging it every night. I personally use a very well hidden kill switch, because I don't feel like warming my car up all the way every morning (stupid OBD-O).
BTW, my car started and RAN with both the hazard and ecu fuses out once!

I dont see how the car could possible start without the starter fuse.
But ya kill switch costs about 5 bucks for the switch and just find a place to hide it. Very easy and effective install, everyone should have one.
Just dont tell a single soul about where it is, not even close friends

A seasoned thief that really wants your car might have an ECU with them.
If you are really hardcore and want to make it STILL not start then you could swap around a few wires on the stock ECU plug and then make a jumper harness to go in between the ECU and the stock plug to correct the wiring. If I thief tries and ECU with your jumper and ECU removed then they could fry their ECU if you did it right. At the least, it would either run like total *** or it wouldn't run at all (all depending on what you swap around).
I have heard of theft stories where cars would get broke into and all that would come up missing is stuff like an air intake, CD's, radio, and the ECU. With that in mind, it probably isn't a bad idea to pull your ECU at night. It might be wear and tear on the connectors over a period of time though.

I highly suggest to use the kill switch. I put one in for a couple of dollars.
You can always get a detachable steering wheel. You would have to carry a backpack with you if you wanted to take the wheel with you every where but just at night just take it inside.

I had to leave my car for a couple of days at a friends driveway once.
I took the steering wheel off and disconnected the fuel pump under the rear storage bin.
The best solution is a fuel pump cut off switch. Super easy to do.

Get an alarm and a good kill switch professionally installed with a reputable Audio /Security shop. Check the Audio/ Security/ Video section. I 'm not big on fuel cut offs, I know a guy with a 2003 Cobra that blew his engine from having a bad fuel cutoff installed, he started the car & it went 'too lean' and POP, BTW Warranty doesn't cover stupidty
.
No alalrm can protect a car 100%. Remember, thieves need time...
Internal sirens (pain generators) IMO are a good thing. If all you got are kids messin with your ****, that may help. Secondary battery, secondary external siren.
If someone wants your car bad enough they can get it.
An alarm is a small investment

i have given this some thought myself (for when i actually have a honda worth stealing), and what i came up with was a hidden toggle switch that stops power from going to the main relay. the main relay controls the spark and fuel.
detachable steering wheel, a nice 17 +1 glock, and a pit bull.... guess you gotta when you live in the ghetto... course they all know me as the "white guy with a gun" so that helps
I always thought of putting two switches in series. Then you put one hidden but not to hard to get to for when you're parking it for a little while, and one really well hidden and hard to get to for parking overnight or when you're really paranoid. Of course mix that with other types of security.

I could be totally wrong here but isn't the connection under the storage bin for the fuel level sending unit. The fuel pump on and EF is in a totally different location not accessable through the storage bin?
