Default Odd questions...about headunits and interior colorscheme of your Integra

So I have a 94 GSR, black cloth interior...with a factory radio/cassette player. All lighting is white in the car. The factory Acura unit is really good surprisingly for what it is, however I really miss not having a CD player. Looking around at manufacturers the only brands I'm willing to put in my ride would have to be either Alpine, Kenwood or possibly Panasonic. Price is another thing, but moreso is appearance. I want my headunit to look good in the car, as if it was factory.

Choices...and I want it to play MP3's as well. Which headunit would look best in an Integra w/white lighting(not amber).

Alpine CDA-9807

Plays CD/MP3/WMA...23watt RMS, 50x4 peak.

Alpine CDA-9827

Plays CD/MP3/WMA...23watt RMS, 50x4 peak.

Kenwood Excelon KDC-X579

Plays CD/MP3/WMA...22watt RMS, 50x4 peak.

I have the kenwood Excelon in my ZX2, and I wouldn't recomend it for a teg, because of the flip down face. I think I am going to get the Alpine CDA-7995. I like the look, and it should do everything you want, you can get it for 300 on ebay.

Ive got the panasonic CQ-DF903U...

it doesnt play MP3, which is something I regretted at first, but Ive gotten over now. But it does have the nice 3D dot matrix display. It looks good in my teg with stock guage lighting, but its a little too blue, makes my VAFC almost look green. Im bout to get my camera out so ill snap a pic and post it later.

alpine is a great unit. have you considered a honda/alpine cd changer that'll plug into your radio? i did after my kenwood was stolen. mounted in glovebox.

But then I'd still be running off of factory radio, which distorts at higher volume.

Not bad, you need to steady your hand when you take photos. Or buy a tripod...something...focus maybe? LoL. It doesn't look bad.

Anybody have their factory GSR CD player that lights up white at night? Selling?

You can't beat this color combination

Clarion ProAudio DXZ835MP
CD/MP3/WMA Receiver with CD Changer Controls

Say goodbye to dashboard boredom — Clarion's ProAudio DXZ835MP CD receiver has a motorized face with an amazing 728 display colors to choose from! It's perfect for showcasing your MP3 and WMA song titles, so load up some CD-Rs (or CD-RWs) with your favorite files and hit the road.

I'm sure 1 of the 728 colors match the USDM or JDM Integra interior lighting scheme.

What's wrong with a flip-down face? I have one on my Kenwood KDC-MP8013 and it works fine.

I'd recommend the Kenwood 1) because I've had great experiences with Kenwood decks, and 2) because the black goes much better with your interior than the crappy silver that everything else is coming in these days.

I'm not really a fan of Alpine, which might be a problem whenever I put a CD deck in my car because I have an Alpine 6-cd changer in the back that I don't want to get rid of

I used to be a big Kenwood fan, used to have a Kenwood deck and changer in my old car, but at some point I'd like to subscribe to satellite radio, and XM seems to be better than Sirius, at least right now.

Probably the best decks I have seen that have what I want at a reasonable price are some of Pioneer's stuff. Many play MP3's, are XM ready, and look decent, although I haven't paid too much attention to the colors of the actual headunit face itself. I will need something with 3 sets of RCA outputs, and I would like a flip-down (NON-motorized, less likely to break) because no slot in the face leaves more room for a bigger display.

I've had the Alpine headunit in my car for 3 years
had the Pioneer 8200 before that
and the Kenwood Mask before that
they all sounded good
I miss the Pioneer because of the features
but the Alpine is just as good for cd playback
I dont listen to the radio so thats all I can say
I hate commercials, lol

oh by the way
the internal amp sucks..................on any headunit
if you have to get the low end Alpine to be able to afford a good 4 channel amp, do so
it's the best way

Have you considered Eclipse? The display is primarily white, but there's a bit of a green tone in the buttons. Even still, one could be had in your price range, and if sound quality is an important thing to you, you simply can't do better. I'd put an Eclipse up against any of the previously mentioned decks as far as SQ goes. Plus, the non-detachable face makes for a more solid feeling unit. Just something to consider.
