Default Bad Spark Knock!

I just had to drop another engine into my 93 civic and after we had it all setup and ready, it started at the first touch of the key. Once I drove it down the road I noticed that it had a bad spark knock when the engine was under load (driving low in gear or going up hills) I thought it was just the old gas in the tank but that is all gone now and it is still knocking. So what are some other options......what are all the causes of spark knock? if there are alot of causes of it I don't mind doing the old trial and error way but maybe some of you have cured this problem an easier way? oh the engine is a D15B7 if that makes any difference

Wow. Maybe you threw the rod itself? Check it out.. lest I be correct and the bottom end blows out.

As far as the .. spark knock? You mean combustion knock? It's caused by early detonation. What kind of plugs are you using? OEM? And what octane are you running?

it only started doing it lately ....i have 185 km's on the engine, with OEM spark plugs....i've had the bottom end taken apart to replace the rod bearings and there was NO play in the rods at all....could it be a wrist pin or something worn badly???

i'm using 92 octane all the time!!!

Maybe you just have the same problem as the other guy; Combustion knock?
Maybe the ignition timing is all off.

Someone help me out here!
