Default LS/VTEC or NOT?

As of right now i have a mildly port/polished head (LS) on a moderately built (LS) bottom-end [rods/pistons/blockguard] as my setup. I would like to know if anyone that has done this setup, replaced it w/ a VTEC head and gained better performance or same...or worse. I have not dynoed my car yet ...nor taken it to the track ever since the turbo was installed; so any comments/advice would be appreciated. I just don't want to make a big mistake by going through all the hassle of LS/VTEC and ending up with the same performance results.
