Default vaccum leak in brakes?

whenever i step on the brake pedal i hear a vaccum leak and the harder i step on it the louder it gets, and furthermore the power booster seems to work less and less the louder the leak gets. so when i step on the brake pedal really hard, it hardly works. i haven't had the time to look at it although im shure i could figure it out easily. but has anyone had this problem before, or know exactly where the leak is coming from? oh yea and the idle gets higher the harder i step on the brakes due to the vaccum leak. so anyone have any ideas?

Gasket between the MC and bootser??

When I bought my MC and booster from the wreckers yard there was no gasket between the two. Is there really supposed to be one?

What does the gasket do just keep it air tight?

if there were no gasket, it would be leaking, thus a gasket would form to a shape so that there would be no leak. buy the gasket b4 ya crash the dam thing

You have a leak in the brake booster. you need to replace it, and thats it.
