strut bar with dpfi??
ok.. i know that the front strut bar ive got will not fit as-is with dpfi, but i was wondering if anyone has figured out a mod or something that would make it fit until i get my mpfi swap done... i feel retarted with only a rear strut bar in the car and i think the front would make a good improvement in my chassis rigidity and dont wanna have it sitting in my room for a month or two
im workin on it, ive got z6 intake mani.. i just need ecu and dizzy.. im hoping it makes a big diff even though im gonna put in another motor. does mpfi make the intake any louder? i just wanna make it a little more rigid.. i got hte ebay bars and for as much as everyone hates on them they are rock solid bars even if they arent 1 piece .... they dont bend at all
on mine the bar normally mounted would hit the dpfi thing and rattle like a ****... (only tried it for a minute like that).. so i went down to canadian tire and got some longer bolts and extra lock nuts and washers.
normal:
bolt, metal mount, strut bar end, metal mount, nut
mine:
long bolt, strut bar end, metal mount, nut washer, metal mount, lock nut
so where the strut bar usually goes is tightened down onto a spare nut on the bolt... and the strut bar is bolted on to the front most of the two bracket/prong things. i put a few washers on too.
the strutbar end needed to be adjusted out a bit more... and i did some "massaging" of the brackets so both ends of the bar would fit and line up enough to get the bolt through. but after tightening it all up its pretty solid and gives enough space for the engine / dpfi not to hit it.

edit: these are old pics, i have since moved the battery and got a smaller cone filter so there's a little more room around the intake/strut bar.

you will notice the minute you start the car...
i took off down the street and started loosing traction near the top of first, and laid good rubber into second on my d15 after the mpfi conversion.... good luck

good idea... i hadnt even thought of doing that with the washers.. did it make any difference having it on vs not? dont worry, im going to be doing the mpfi as soon as i get done collecting parts.. all i lack is a resistor box and pm6.. im using a d16z6 intake mani. btw, does anyone know if i can use the z6's obd1 sensors or if i need a6 Si sensors? thanks
