A freind in the shop is trying to convince the parts guy to super charge his prelude! I say that he turbos it! What would be better in your guys opinion? Is one any harder on the engine than the other?
you might get a better responce if you were to post this topic in the prelude forum rather than F/I. Supercharge, thats my opinion but it all depends on what one wants out of their driving experience.
Search the FI forum, u will find how much better turbo is. Supercharging is easier but it will not make as much power as a good turbo set up, not even close.
If its a daily driver, a SC is a better route to take , but if youre planning on taking it to the track and drag racing it a lot, turbo is the way to go. Depends if you like having more low end power for short street races and such, or if you want more top end power.
I should have gotten a turbo instead, but the SC is undetectable unless you can hear it. No FMIC to be seen. SC draws less attention to your car too.

yea, with a sc you can stay out of boost just as easy as a turbo. Sometimes it's *easier* depending upon how early your turbo spools at & the sc is a much less expensive mod if you don't want over 260WHP ish.
Supercharger:
Pros: Good power down low, bolt-on, less expensive, CARB legal
Cons: Unintercooled boost = higher intake temperature = less power = more prone to knock, less upgrade potential
Turbo:
Pros: Intercooled boost (with intercooler), more power, a lot of upgrade potential, BOV
Cons: More than just "bolt-on", more lag than supercharger, usually more expensive
That's the very general idea.

Lets not forget your driving an SH, and more than likely a turbo will fry the unit. Jackson Racing has a supercharger made to run with the ATTS unit, but it will still not be able to handle the extra torque. A turbo will for sure fry the unit, specially if your gonna be boosting high.
Or you can do what im doing and ditching the SH Block and tranny and going with the base units. But then again im building a 20+psi turbo set-up.

EVERYONE will tell you to go turbo.... I think that should signify a valid point.....
GO TURBO....
there are so many reasons why one should install a turbo, I mean Hondas were practically built for turbos.

Oh BTW, dont listen to that reliability B.S. issue with turbos.
I mean i got a stock gsr and F-ed it up already just from a Mis Shift.
If properly tuned and DRIVEN; a turbocharged honda can be just a reliable as a stock one and run just as or even more efficiently.

^^^ He is right the H22 is one of the worst motors to boost, I forgot it has the FRM cylinders and probably the weakest ringlands of all honda motors. I just wouldn't boost the H22 at all.
