$4000 -- I was looking at buying this car and I wanted some feedback from those with more experience than myself. I'm going over this weekend or next to look at the car. Assuming good condition whats your opinion?

1990 Honda CRX Si with JDM B16a swap.

All gaskets and belts changed with OEM Honda products at the time of swap.
Chasis - 118xxx
AC

Body has a few dents here and there with some little rust starting to form on the sunroof panel.

Ground-Control coilovers w/Tokico shocks
Nuespeed front and rear strut bars
Ingalls camber kit
Energy Suspension bushings and 15in Integra LS mesh wheels mounted on Toyo Proxes
AEM cold air intake w/bypass valve
Comptech header
Thermal R&D catback
NGK spark plugs and wires
ACT six puck clutch and 8lb flywheel
B&M short shifter and shifter bushings
HaSport motor mount kit
wire harness and AC bracket

Pioneer head unit and 4 6-1/2in 3 way speakers

Car is very reliable and I have all of the stock parts except old motor and tranny. Vehicle has stock paint on it and has not been involved in any major accidents.

They seem to be haunted with bugs and problems that most CRX drivers dont have.

The car is just cursed... problems just HAPPEN with those cars or at least it seems to happen more then normaly with those colored cars... so someone dubbed it a curse.

 

im debating at this time to buy a y-49 crx found one cheap that needs work

but this girl i know, knows 3 people who have totalted their y-49

i dunno what to do

 

the y49 curse is usually, they get written off, or things you add to the car either get stolen or fall off....and rust always comes back to them after its repaired, its the worst colour ..

What does everyone thing of the asking price for the car?

I thought myself it was a little high. I was hoping for $3-3,500, but I'll see this weekend or next what's going to happen. Still waiting for an email back from the owner.

 

I think it's pretty fair. Try and talk him down, but I wouldn't bet on it. A clean rex here goes for 3 grand with everything stock.

you must have owned alot of Honda's then we had a big thread about the y-49 curse. there's alot about it...

 

Yep I had one y-49 and that car got broken into. Sold it for another y-y9 and always got pulled over by the cops.

 

if you owned one, does the curse follow the owner after selling it :

1-2-3 I think you were and still are more cursed then your car.But yeah the yellow crx's are hot,I can vouch for 1-2-3 for getting pulled over 5 times in 2 days WTF???

That car sounds great, dont mind what people say about the curse. I've had no problems with mine and I think its a great color. Offer him 3K and work your way from there. Good Luck!

4k is a good price, but you should always go lower, somewhere around 3,500 or 3,800.

Yeah, there is a y-49 curse, as if the color causes accidents to gravitate towards it, but I can't see a CRX being any other color. I'm pretty sure that if you pick it up, you'll feel the same way.

Only if you painted yourself Y-49.

 

ha ha well you might have a blessed one then Barry, my friend had one and the **** that went wrong with that car. here's a quick run down:

Windshield started leaking water.

pulled over at least once a month for 6 months!!!!

wiring gremlins (swapped in b16a) maybe owner stupidity?

hit pot hole bent suspension on lt. front

and last, air intake came loose hit and grounded on postive terminal on battery

... outcome engine fire. needless to say the car was fucked.

BTW the shell is for sale for $600.00.

swap still not started yet, hope to start next week

 

Well, sounds good guys. The curse don't phase me any (yet). Hopefully I'll get out to see it this weekend and see this yellow y-49 stuff in person.

I'm all ready to get a loan, hope no one else is offering him money.
