Was wondering what the best tranny for top end would be...my std hatch w/mpfi swap and intake topped out at 118 mph yesterday with the crappy 4 speed..not too bad considering it came stock w/70 hp but not terrific either...
i cant say now since i am at work and dont have my favorites
but go to google and do a search for CRX Math
u will find a page that has all the tranny speed calculator

I think The Si tranny will run out of gearing at about 130 with a 7200ish RPM redline.
But who wants to run their motor at 7200 RPMs for a long period of time.

You'd better have some major power to back it up, but the HF tranny would net you the highest top speed.
With roughly 120hp, my d16a6 with an HF tranny struggled to reach 95mph. I think 110mph was the fastest I could reach; and that was full throttle for about 30 seconds.
All that aside, I would say the best thing about the HF tranny is 1st gear, which allows you to run up to 50mph before hitting red.

I was guestimating off the top of my head.
I have 91 hf and easily reached 110 with plenty of tach to go so i would use hf for top speed but i also like si tranny too go low gear and still can reach 120 easily which is not really need unless you racing on the freakin highway or got enough hp to get you up to that speed on 1/4 mile track
i would think the si transmission would go pretty high, on the highway the other day i hit around 125 in 4th gear, with everything stock cept for i/e. so having around 35-30 mph per gear, i should mathimatically be able to hit around 150 in fifth gear right. not sayin my engine could take it but i COULD right? cuz i dont want to try that fast

i ran a 15.4 with DX tranny
and ocne i hybrid it into a DX/Si tranny i ran a 15.1
so i can say with timeslips to back it up that the Si tranny is 0.3 seconds faster than the Si

4speed Std tranny i heard had the best top speed,
now u need to go to somewhere like the salt flats to get it all the way up there
oh and enjoy your aviatar while u can , or switch it. mods will lock it up.

Everybody here also needs to consider what size your tires are. Larger diameter tires = longer "gears" per se. Tranny gearing isn't set on how fast it will let your car go, the tires are the last ratio.

no way the 4 speed would go that high.. that 4th gear sucks *** on the freeway

I would say the Dx/Hf 5-speed. I had a 4-speed in my Si with a Zc and I used to hit 110mph @ 7200 in third gear, 135 in 4th @ 6500. At that point I had no more power. My goal is 150 with the Dx 5-speed after turboing the Zc.
What is the HF gearing? Since it is so highly geared though, you will need some more power. I've heard a stock DOHC ZC/ZC tranny CRX will do 130. The ZC has the same final drive as the DX tranny, but has a closer ratio through the gears.

240? You'd need an insane ammount of hp for that
