ive been searchin for a while and found some stuff but nothinin that answers my spacific question. What boost is safe to run daily on a b16 with a thick head gasket (or 2 stock), arp head studs, and a block gaurd. im thinkin of runnin 9 daily and 13-14 at the track with that setup, please tell me if this is not safe.

btw... how much $ would i be lookin at for forged internals and to get my block sleved?

i know that this question varries, but bear with me... what WHP #s am i lookin at with 9psi on a b16... is 250 reasonable to say?

If Im not mistaken....the b16 stock rods and pistons can handle up to 12-15 lbs of boost BUT with proper tuning, Hondata would be your best bet for tuning. However with a lower compression ratio from the 2 headgaskets the blockguard for reinforcement....9 PSI daily should be no problem, and 13-14 psi should be very strong at the track......you just might need to replace your clutch....someone correct me if im wrong

 

i run 14-15psi daily on pump gas, never got chance to tune with race gas on my old setup. I used a t3/to4e 60 trim .63ar turbo, for next year i switched to an sc61, revhard intake manifold and gsr cams, planning on running 12psi daily and ~20psi with c16. I don't have a block guard though.

 

12-13lbs at the most in my opinion..........

 

InlinePro has done 22-25psi the last time I talked to John Lee there. Stock block with thicker headgasket

 

i run 18-20lbs with a stock block b16 W/ bg & headstuds, No its not safe by anymeans but so far its got about 25 short passes messin around on the street, and 2 at Carlsbad, It went 10.88@132 second pass down the track, so in my eyes the motor did its job and i can care less if it blows the **** up, I just finished the DP shot and all i need is a roll bar(carlsbad gotta lovem). Hopefully have some numbers for u soon,
My point is that if dont depend on your car for work or school then go for it,
Buy a daily driver, Or be happy boosting 4lbs SAFELY & getting broke the **** off buy someone thats gotta pair of *****.

 

How about CP pistons, eagle rods, with head studs and block guard?

youre not stealing it, i got my answer. i was actually gonna ask that next. would it be a bad idea to run 12-13psi daily with forged pistons and rods with a block gaurd? if so, what should i be putting to the wheels?

then, would 16-18psi be ok to have for a "once in a while" use? meaning at the track or at the "Track".

i was thinkin that if i could do that, i could just have a turbo xs dual manual boost controller and get the new vafc. then when i want to turn it up, just change the vafc to the second map and then switch the boost controller to high boost. this would of course be only temporary till i get a hondata or ems.

I am running 10.5-11psi on my stock b16a3. I have hondata and it was tuned by one of the best tuners (st00pid). The anwser you are seeking lies in good tuning. I am sure the car could handle a bit more, but I didn't have a 3 bar map sensor, so 11psi is the highest I can boost for now.

Like everyone said... 12-13psi unless you upgrade your pistons so that your ringlands wont crack if detonation so happens.

 

ok, but what about my question of....... what if i do get forged rods and pistons, and a blockgaurd, would it be a bad idea to run about 17psi every once in a while, or would that be too much?
