3rd gear syncro do it yourself or pay someone
im a DIY kinda guy,..i do everything myself,..but it took me awhile before i got enough ***** to open up the transmission and rebuild it,..i suggest you either buy a new tranny or have someone replace your syncro for you,..reason why i say buy a new tranny is because sometimes its just cheaper than having a tranny shop rebuild your existing one

That question could only be properly answered by someone that knows your mechanical ability. If you are confident in your ability and have the right tools, go for it.

Are there any "special" tools needed to tear apart and rebuild a tranny??
I will be attempting this very soon.

naw thats not it (still helpful though
)... maybe it was in the tech forum.
i don't remember too much about it, but there were pictures of him putting assembly lube on the shafts. and at the end he said the difficulty of this is 2 out of 10.
thats all i really remember... anybody know which thread i'm talking about?

if you have a grind in 3rd gear, it may not even be the synchro........lower motor mounts wear out -> motor moves forward while spinning -> linkage doesn't reach into gear -> GRIND.
