Need answers to 18"-8" 35mm offset...
I am looking at a set of nice forged wheels but they are made for the RSX in a 18"-8" with a 35mm offset...That seems like a little much...I am having trouble understanding the less offset vs more width of the wheel thing.
If the factory offset is 45mm then the 35mm offset wheel is going to sit 10.0mm farther out right...Like widening the track 20.0mm correct or not.
Reason I ask is OZ makes an 18" Superlegara for the RSX with a 45.0mm offset and is 18"-8" also...Whos correct...OZ or Speedline of Japan?

a picture is worth a thousand words..
i tried writing this out in words and it wasnt making sense so i made this pic for ya
hope this helps: (some stuff is pretty redundant but just so you'd be 100% clear i made both the 35 and 45 wheels..)
so now its up to you, go out and measure first of all wether or not it will clear the suspension, then if it will be too close to the fender (to the point where it would need to be rolled or pulled)
** also keep in mind this diagram asumes 0 degree camber which also affects clearance issues** .. if you know exactly how much camber youre running clearance #'s adjusted to that can easily be calculated as well

Damn thats cool man, thanks. I actually cut some cards last night in 6.5", 7" and 7.5" and 8" then marked the centers and measured the different offsets from some wheel manufacturers...My best bet is to get a 7.5" with a 45mm offset.
It will put the wheel about 10-13mm out farther and it should clear the fenders...
Reason I asked was that Prodrive has a purdy wheel. PFF-7 but its 18"-8" in 35mm offset...It sticks out a lot...probably to much...Thanks again.

well.. i think the 18x8 +35 would be pretty close to flush with the fender.. it goes out 29.05mm farther than stock (roughly 3cm or a little more than an inch). if you are lowered, and have say, 1 or 2 degrees of camber, you should be ok. you'll probably have to roll the fenders to avoid too much rubbing, but i would be more concerned with rubbing on the inside. your best bet would be to measure the absolute clearance and compare it to the numbers i gave you.
just take the wheel off, measure from hub to fender (you can tape a string to the inside lip of the fender and have a little ball or something pulling it down w/gravity to make it 100% straight vertical) and measure the distance from the FRONT of the hub (wheel mounting surface) to the outermost point on the inside of the fenderwell, usually part of the suspension. good luck

The Prodrive guys have them on their car, BUT their vehichle has a wide body kit on it.
Thats why I think they went with the 35mm offset...Otherwise it would not look as good.

I'm actually running on 17" X 7.5" wheels right now with a 45mm offset. I had a slight inner fender well rub with that setup while making U turns. Because of that, i picked up a set of 5mm H&R wheel spacers. It took care of my rubbing problem.
If you haven't seen a RSX with a 45mm 7.5" width wheel, it tucks pretty far under the fender. There's a long way to go before you'll be flush with the rear quarter panel.
Have you done a search on clubrsx? The past couple of months there have been HUGE discussions about offsets. The RSX Texan over at clubrsx is running on 18" X 8" wheels with a 38mm offset. Because he is lowered, he had to roll the rear quarter panel lip in order to avoid rubbing the rear 1/2" lip. No problems with rubbing up front though.
Edit: fumitani over at clubrsx is running on 19 X 8" wheels with a 35mm offset. He is also lowered and had to shave off the rear lip to make it fit without rubbing. His setup is completely flush with the rear quarter panel.
