Are the head studs on a GSR block considered to be in the water jacket?
I need to know if the head studs on a GSR block are considered to be in the water jackets? Although I don't think they are, I need to be 100% sure, because if they are, then I need to use a thread sealer to keep them from backing out. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
They thread into the aluminum of the block. Not connected to the water jacket in anyway. You should be able to see that if you have the head off, besides how and why would they thread into the water jacket?

I was asking the same question when I called ARP. They told me that if the head studs bolted into the water jacket then I was going to have to use thread sealer to keep the water/coolant from breaking the seal on the stud's threads. The reason I asked this question was because I had someone tell me to use a "thread locker blue" on the studs to keep them from backing out. When I called they told me the only reason I would have to use something like that was if the studs were exposed to the water jacket. I then found out that they weren't so my question has been answered.
