you should get the timing belt to match whichever head is on the engine

the water pump is what matters from what i understand, how many teeth to be more specific.

Use water pump from block, T-belt from head

Y8/Y7/Z6 = 104 Teeth
B7/B8 = 106 Teeth
Z1 = 103 Teeth

i dont see what the difference would be between the vtec and non vtec head to make the necessary t-belt different. shouldn't the only things that matter be the water pump and the deck height?!?

The B7 head and Z6 heads are completely different designs...the B7 head stands a little bit taller than the Z6. Not to mention B7 and Z6 dizzys ARENT interchangable. The Y7 and Y8 heads are closer to the Z6 than the B7...all sharing the same t-belt as well as having the plug wires in the front...also the Y7 and Y8 share the same distributor.

Is that also true for b-series? A friend of mine has a b16 block and b18 head. Should he be using a b18 belt?

i've got a question

i'm riding with a y7

would adding a z6 head mean that i would have to change the dizzy? anything else?

would it be easier to add a y8 head? or "better"?

down the line, I'll probably be adding some pistons. I want my comp around or slightly under 12:1, just gotta find some a1 pistons

Y8. Z6 has a different dizzy than Y7 and Y8...and the whole OBD1 conversion thing would be a pain in the ***...get a Y8 head and u can use the Y7 dizzy, IM, header etc...you'll need to get the EX ecu and then wire up the VTEC and knock sensor
