How to keep passenger airbag functional with an aftermarket steering wheel?
I was thinking maybe there was a way to trick the ecu into thinking that the steering wheel has a airbag and in turn would still make the passenger airbag operational. I have heard someone say i needed to loop a connector somewhere but i dont know if its true. Thanks in advance.
BTW i did a search for airbag in Integra Type R forum and nothing came up...is the search function not working right now?

I am trying to get this done for a pass. side air bag tray install on my car.
The resistance of the pass. side bag is ~3.0ohms (I think).

Really? Hmm cause i heard if the srs light is on and you dont have a driver side airbag hooked up the pass. side airbag would not deploy in an accident.
Anyone else?

the srs ecu needs to see a around 2 ohms resistance. in order fo it to know that the bag is functional. less than, set a code, srs open, more than, srs short in the system. statr playing with a ressitor. i know there is jumper tool from honda to bypass the bag when checking the system.

I just looked in the Helms book.

I will pay the dealer a visit soon and see if they can help me.

i think thats bullshit cuz as long as that light is on or an open in the system the enitre system doesnt function

Thats not true.
The airbags will still blow if you pull the fuses (i've seen it happen).

after doing some research on my own in the past few months, i've heard of a hub from momo (not sure on brand) with a built-in srs adapter specifically made for the purpose of keeping the pass airbag functional and srs light off. i found it is not legally sold in the US for obvious legal reasons, but most of us have gone beyond "legal" in most of our mods already, lols.
anyway, if one of HT's senior vendors can comment on such a product if they know, it would make life easier and safer for anyone thinking of rigging up their own contraption. i have a buddy wanting to put a racing wheel on his db8, and i havent had the time to actually track down if this item really exists...hope someone here knows for sure and can help us all.

I can see it in the near future.

here is my idea
1)Jump it (DriverSide) or ground it(I think ground it wont work)
2)reset the ecu for airbags (open the H-Manual 23-317~end)
3)your friends feels safe now!

If the SRS light is on then the system wasnt reset properly and its logged some DTC (or whatever the codes are).
The way I've heard to make sure is to remove the battery cable for 3 minutes, leave it off, unplug the airbags. Plug them back in and turn the key to the ON position. If if the SRS light stays on for more than 6 seconds it needs to be checked by Honda. Anyone can correct me on this but this is what I have read. I am currently throwing an SRS light myself but didnt take the time to go back and try resetting it.

right, but i dont have a driver side airbag any more......but im pretty sure that the SRS light will always be on since i have the mugen wheel on there now, just wanted to know if that wasnt the case.
So the passenger air bag does still work when the drivers side airbag is removed?
if it doesn't then any more info on this:

I have been wondering this myself. I have a sparco steering wheel, but I would like to keep my passenger side airbag working. Everyone that hasnt actually had the passenger side airbag go off with an aftermarket wheel says that if you have the SRS light, then the SRS system will not work at all.
On the other hand, I have read numerous posts where people with a non airbag wheel have had the passenger side go off.
Wasn't there a guy at CMP ECHC whos airbags went off and he had the fuses pulled?

if Honda use the same (SRS) wiring on all their car...then I can tell you the pass. side air bag will WORK even with the oem srs steering wheel removed.
a friend of mine has a momo wheel on his EK hatch......got into accident......pass. side did pop out.
