Default getting a d16y8 head for my d16a6, what should i get to make vtech work?

Well my question is what do i need with the head d16y8 that im getting? it comes with a stock vtech controller that mounts on head, and valve cover. So do i need a apexi vtech controller? do i need a d16y8 belt? Well im just wondering what else i need to make the vtech work, and can i use my intake and dizzy? Well if you could help that would be great.

Also i love this website, in the past 2 weeks you guys have answered like 12 posts ive put up and all helped me out, and i learned stuff too, thanks to ALL YOU HONDA TECH GUYS who helped me

convert to obd1 its the best way. next would be a VAFC. next a rpm switch. next a toggle switch. if all else fails just wire that **** into your horn button.

Well sorry i spelled Vtec wrong, and i know what i want to do is dumb to alot of you, but i dont want to buy a b16 and mounts and all that stuff cause i dont know enough yet, and i want to learn. I actually am kinda satisfied with my si with the d16y6 in it, i just thought since the head had bad valve guides and stuff, i can get a y8 head for 100 bucks, with only 65,000 on it. In my head, i thought i could get a little more power and make my car run a little better. If you can spare the jokes, and help a little that would be great, i just want to know all the stuff i will need to do this ahead of time, thanks ahead of time for those who help.

so you're trying to do a mini me setup? i wouldnt recommend wiring this swap yourself. especially if you do not have too much experience. this stuff might help you with the wiring. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=562742 i know you have to have an adjustable cam gear or else the timing belt will always be half a tooth off. i'm not sure which head gasket and timing belt you use. someone else may be able to chime in.

Well let me know if you got any ideas, thanks

first of you said VTECH!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA OH MY GOSH YOU CANT SAY THAT ON HONDA-TECH OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG FLAME FLAMe FLAME ITS VTEC VTEC VTEC NOT VTECH LIKE THE PHONE!!!!

jesus christ guys, it gets old...

now, that is clear.. a Mini-me swap is very easy. You will need to remove the oil oriface jet from the deck of the block. its in the center of the block (backside) take it out. Use a 92-95 z6 or 96-00 y8 metal head gasket. Be sure to use the D16a6 injectors too. Since they are Hold and peak, and the y8 ones are Saturated.

The PG7 ECU (teg) should work well with your setup, especially with the tunibility w/ a AFC. There really isnt any wiring involved other than the AFC wiring and running 1 wire to the vtec solinoid.

Good luck!
Jeff

Just curious if the a6 intake manifold can still be completely used with the Y8 head on the a6 block, I'm sure its probably better to use the y8 manaifold but the one I have is out of an automatic , and i heard its harder to use. I have the complete motor, is it just better to use it all in my 89 hb? I'm losing time, i need my car running otherwise I'm going to start taking offers for the motor and find a DOHC ZC. HELP!
