Default Building a sohc turbo.. What are your combos/ dyno numbers?

Im going to rebuild the motor/tranny in my 93 ex, 5 speed, i found a pretty good rebuild kit im gonna use, along with stock honda gaskets, im gonna do some type of after market cam, port the head, with 3 angle valve job, maybe bigger valves? and im going to do a stage 2 clutch, lightned flywheel, and phantom. What intake manifold is best for turbo z6, or y8? Whats the best Tb to use, im going to throw on my Ihi turbo, and do some sort of fmic, whats a good junkyard ic to use, i have spare bov, intake piping, downpipes and such i can use, i also heard a station is a good junkyard down pipe. im trying to do this as cheap as i can, but i want to build a healthy motor, what are some tips?

Wouldn't bother with all the engine work for a stock bottom end sohc. Just leave the engine standard because you can make as much as your rods can take on a bone stock engine. Anything after 230whp will be risky rods can snap easily from there on.

If budget is a concern heres what I would recomend

JE/SRP Pistons
B18A/B/B20 Rods rebushed for D series wrist pins
ARP rod bolts
ACL Bearing Set
Ported head

And for a SOHC intake manifold I would recomend this

I will be using one for my GF's D16Y8 Turbo build

Hope this helps

if your doing a rebuild don't rebuild it unless your ganna use forged parts. if its ganna be opened up once do it right and get some nice parts to put in it.

also their are a few Mercedes Benz that have some nice FMIC for like 175. ebay might have some aswell.

search under my name and youll find my parts list. the thread is about a JDM Garrett T25 turbo on a D16z6.

Everyones already forgotten the turbopanda combo. Just as reliable, and for hella cheaper. IM TurboPanda, it's only like 400 somethin for supra pistons and b16a rods. It'll take you up to 1.5 bar. And 1 bar daily. For cheap, and you'll have peace of mind.

Guy ur best bet Je pistons and Eagle rods do not do that turbopanda stuff sorry using used **** in ur motor is not my cup of tea. U can get new rods and pistons for the same price.

I have a stock D16Y8 with a rev hard kit on it and i made at 9psi 215hp with a stock exhaust. Fuel by hondata and i still get 600km on a tank if i baby it.

And forget about the phantom. They break with any type of power. Go with quiafe if you are going to use anything at all. Stock blocks will take the power if you tune them right. Like everyone else says, if you are going to open the motor up go with quality forged parts. Deffinately use the z6 tranny or if you can get your hands on a y8 tranny it would be better as it has stronger shifter forks. It is better to wait a little longer and build it right, then it is to half *** it and have to do it all over again when it blows up.

if you are just looking to make 200-215whp then you dont have to build anything. we built a sohc turbo on a stock motor that made 200whp completely stock. fmu, missing link, intank 255l, and a big t4. the car goes 13.2 all day long.

Thats what i thought, i just want to make my ex get into the 13s, nothing crazy. Whats a good turbo cam, also how much is the qualife? Im going to go with moly rings also, i dont plan on running more then 13psi or so , so i dont think i need awesome pistons and rods.
