depends on how you drive, i do mine every 15K.. if you drive lightly then 30k will do.

Unless you have done it before don't try it on your caR for the first time, Have someone who knows how to do it teach you then attempt it next time.

I do it every 15,ooo miles, and mine is do now...

Buy a feeler guage, buy a helms, and buy a new valve cover gasket and honda bond. Follow the instructions. Basically you are checking the clearance of the valves and make sure they all have a uniform gap.

So how much might this cost at a dealer or repair shop?

that's not necessary.. 30k is fine, 15k if you beat on it.. any sooner only if you think it was done improperly or there is a problem..

I've seen them for anywhere from $40 to $80 at the stealership.. varies a bit..

The '98 service manual says to do this every 30K miles (48K km) or 24 months, whichever comes first.

i'd only worry about it if you've reved it really high on too many ocassions or if you have the valves out or changed anything in the valvetrain

I find that checking it frequently; You dont have to adjust too many, only the couple that are out of spec.

I check mine approx. every 10k miles. And you can reuse all the gaskets. Most of the times I didnt use Hondabond either.
