Like the ridiculously long title says. Im looking to purchase some 16'' wheels for my 2000 accord coupe. The guy at pep boys (big mistake going there to buy rims but hey I was buying oil and I couldnt help but window shop ) has informed me that if I had 16''/7'' rims with 205/55-16 tires, and a drop of about 1'' then I would experience wheel rub. Anyone have any proof supporting or dissproving his claim? Thanks

Stephen

(tried search came up with useless crap)

You will not just because most stock accord applications are 16's and you have more than an inch of wheel gap....nuff said.

Edit:
I have a 4th gen 2 inch drop and 15's....I have a 1 finger gap up front and no gap in back, and can still haul 3 people....you won't rub.

I have 18" rims with 225/40/18 tires and a 1.5 inch drop all around and I DO NOT RUB at all, even with three girls in the back.

By the way 16's wont look good on your car, so if your gonna get rims at least get some 17's or 18's.

search for "offset calculator" in yahoo and enter the wheel sizes. Go out and measure for yourself.

205 tire for a 7" wide? maybe you should drop to 6.5 or go with a 215/225 tire.

also had 225/40/18 (have 215/45/17 now) both on 7"rims, no rub w/ 2" drop, you'll be totally fine, but 16 lame, I second the 17/18 vote

Thats a load of bullshit.. 16" w/ a 1" drop and you will still have mad wheel gap.. I would recommend going even lower so you dont look like a 4x4 Accord

hehe you should have no rub. I roll 19's on a 4th gen (215/35/19) with cylinders and a 2.5inch body drop no rub....

I have a 6th gen with 225/40/18's & a 1.75 inch drop. No rubbing at all.

Quick question though. I'm getting a new set of rims 18x8". What size tire should I use? 225? 235?

And I agree with the above posts. 16's won't look that good. go with 17's or 18's.

depends on offset. with anything lower than 30, you will rub.

I had 17x7 on a 2.75 lowering. No rubbing issues. Of course, that's with GOOD struts.

And follow your own instincts and go with 16" wheels.
IMO, 17"> = eeewwwwwwwwwwww

I totally agree. Anything >17" on an accord/regular car = gaydm

20" dubs on a luxury car = gayerdm

22"+ on a SUV = extreme gaydm
