Default 94 accord timing belt problem

Ok, we just changed a timing belt in a friend of a friends accord. The belt broke, we replaced it, and now the car skips at idle, but when you rev it, it dosnt skip. Any ideas?

The accord is an 'interference' engine. If the timing belt breaks, the pistons will strike the valves. The valves are most likely damaged.

run a compression test, the valve is properly bent or not in spec anymore.

if you threw the belt when it was running obviously, any of the valves that are open at the time will be bent. it happened to me in my first civic, 1st and 3rd were open and they were bent to ****.

But if a valve was bent, wouldnt it not run at all? Or if it did run, wouldnt it skip all the time?

pull the head not that hard and only way to know for sure, if no valves or bent (they probably are) but ive had 2 cars break belts while running and not bend valves, you most likely have the timing off somewhere thus **** idle but good threw higher rpms

i have heard of no valves bending when a belt is thrown, so i would check into the timing. if they are bent you're right it probably wouldnt run at all, mine didnt

sometimes they dont bend as bad as others and can still run somewhat, potentially skipping i believe
