where, a-pillars?

Removed the outside mirrors and replaced them with the convex mirrors clamped to the front down tubes of the cage.
Improved aero AND eliminated the blind spots. The 4 panel covers about 95% of the field and the convex mirrors pick up the conventional blind spots.
Renee sat in the car while I walked all around both rear quarters and the back of it. No matter where I stood she could see me.
These are the round **** Mirrors that truckers clamp to the frames of their outside mirrors. I paid $9 each.
Yeah... Score.

Are Wink mirrors even made any more? I had an old 5 panel laying around my garage from the '80's back when they were the "in thing" so I put it into my car for fun. (not so fun for night driving on the street) Just curious if they're still available new or not.

Ah, I remember those days. You could achieve higher degrees of "coolness" by having a wink mirror in your car...

And I remember the harsh reality of learning this firsthand, too. Driving on the freeway was the most painful -- all those cars, all those headlights, and being followed by an 18 wheeler was not fun....

Scott,
I have only been planning to do this for about 5 years but you beat me to it. How about a closeup of the bracket? Does it pass through the plane of the window openeing such that a window glass could be closed? Did you leave the remaining triangle on the door open or put a little cover/fairing over it?
I just need to do it but am interested how others made it work.

Ever drive an ITC car in an IT Enduro?
Yeah. After about lap 5 you are constantly getting passed... Everywhere... All the time... Even if you are leading your class. You can't have too many mirrors.
Lee,
The doors shut cleanly and the passenger side window rolls up with no issues. I made a couple of cheap little plastic triangles to cover the stock mirror mounting spots. The aero isn't spectacular, but its pretty clean.

the sell them at pep boys for like 25-28 bucks. I have them in all my street cars and my race car. Nice to have but that night thing does suck, but you get used to it. I hate those damn h.i.d's though. Especially on the suv's. That sh*t is aimed directly at my mirror.
Believe it or not, my Tacoma has absolutely no blind spots from the factory....you just have to adjust the rear and side mirrors correctly
Of course in racing a big panel mirror helps I guess, and you'll definately have less drag with inside mirrors (Good old Ford GT40 style).
I will be getting some racing side mirrors for the upcoming Tacoma Track/autocross truck (to replace the big brick factory ones - for aerodynamic reasons) ...
