Default "misfiring" sound and bogging during acceleration roughly around 1-3.2K RPMs...what's the cause and

I have a '98 Civic EX (D16) with a short-ram intake and 2.25 inch custom cat-back. My car's been fine like this for the past two years without any problem.
I have about 98K miles on the car.

Just recently, I'd say about 3-4 days ago, my car's been making a "misfiring" sound and it bogs slightly during acceleration roughly around 1-3.2K RPMs and the check engine light BLINKS. It's pretty much fine once i cruise past that RPM range, and by all means, it starts up fine.

at first, i thought it was a fubared cat converter/exhaust leak/manifold leak. i took the car into a muffler shop and they told me my entire exhaust system is fine and that the problem seemed to be from dirty injectors. i was instructed to get a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, but after trying that out...no improvement.

so i then took it to a mechanic who took the car for a 20 min drive. the verdict from him was that i needed a tune-up, specifically new plugs, wires, rotor, and distributor. i thought this made sense, 'cuz my car has not gotten a tune-up yet.

but then someone told me that alls i need are new plugs and wires and pcv valve...i was told that the rotor and distributor should be fine 'cuz the car has an "electronic" ignition system.

SO...my question is...what do you guys think is the precise cause of the problem??...and putting into GREAT CONSIDERATION that i'm pretty dayam broke at the moment...how can i go about fixing this problem with the least amount of money spent (assuming i can do the labor, which i'm sure i can)???

THANX!! ur help is really appreciated

honda ignitions are not electronic...it is distributor based...so the mechanic is right. change out plugs, wires, distributor rotor and cap...and see if that solves your problem. if not then you have more serious engine problems

cap and rotor is 30-50$
wire and plugs 50-80$
labor 50-100$ (easy to do youself if you are mechanically inclined)

You ovasly don't care about your car to much..if your worried about how much a simple tune-up is (no more then $75) your car is going to have issures all the time.

ey...u must have a stock rod dude...

that's how much the plugs and wires alone are gonna cost...and that duzn't COMPLETE my tune up...don't judge how much i care about my car based on me trying to have a working vehicle while prioritizing cost...

if u wanted to reply so badly to my question...then give me feedback on what u think the problem is....don't get all shady over me asking about cost yo
