Default Short ram on, and I lost to an LS!

Well, I won an intake off ebay for my GSR for $0.99, and then payed 18 for shipping, so I got 18.99 in it. The only reason I got it was cause it was a 3 inch pipe pwdercoated blue, which is worth 18.99.

ANYWAY, I put it on and Vtec screams now. But I still lost in a race to my boy's LS, with comptech header, comptech catback, hi flow cat, AEM CAI, and i think cam gears? But where he got me was first gear, after that, I never gained or lost any ground.

I am accounting this to 2 things, the fact that he may have more torque with his mods, and the fact I have to launch at 2000 rpms and get no traction? I know my driving is not the problem.

Does the exhaust make that much of a difference on low end torque? I think my next performance mod will be a Type 1 racing cat back. I will post pic sof the intake in just a minute, it looks nice.

first of all a short ram isnt going to do much on your gsr--
second of all, in theory a stocks ls should take a gsr up to about 2 gear.

theres way to many factors to decide whether or not an "exhaust" makes a difference

He is a better driver. This proves that a better driver in a slower car can win a race at the start.

Yea i know that a intake is all a gamble for horsepower, and that CAI's are SUPPOSE to be better for HP, but I like the sound. I will keep this one on until I cna locate a Acura Legend airbox and try to fabricate my own Icebox.

Not bad shots for night time huh? I love my new camera.

Yea I know he is a better driver off the line than me, he has had his car 3 years now, me a month, and I am still learning the beauty of FWD 4 cylinder performance, after I owned 2 diff V8's for 2 years.

It was the driving, not the intake. Launch higher! And the intake is fine, just get a k&n air filter.

No kidding. You need to launch at 4K give or take some.

nah nah nah Deluxe your skills is whack

eat my sprite turntable mix son.

So you lost a race and your dick fell off ?

cause if not who cares, I whooped on all kinds of GSR's SIR's ITR's and every other kind of R's back in the street racing days cause I was a better driver

your not or his car is faster or both

find and beach pole and practice your crane kick

BTW if your car is lowered try 3k and dump the clutch, it's pretty fail safe and you don't have to be john force to have a good run. Obviuosly if you have drag slicks on your gonna go a little higher but I've done this many times with customers and everytime is was faster than they were going before then. Most tegs I've run with timing gear and a street start will be perfect somewhere betweeen 32 and 3600

a month of experience to 3 years was definitely the difference. race him again!
and oh yeah...LS hits peak torque earlier than the GSR. GSR's 3rd gear will own that LS

yeah except when you factor in torque multiplication.

IE the gear ratio on the GSR is much shorter but with a redline higer to match which means it acclerates faster and can stay longer in a gear. There are many reasons including better tires why the GSR will be faster, hell even the weight transfer on the GSR springs is better.

"LS hits peak torque earlier than the GSR"

That just means the GSR continues to pull towars the redline while the LS is already on the decline and in cars where inertia rules this is a serious factor. Mid range is great for rolling starts but not so much for drag racing where the tires can easily become overwhelmed regaurdles.

He might be making the same or near peak power over a broader power band but with more tq so he wins.

thats exactly what happens... when i use to run agianst gs-r back in the days i use to have them until the top of 3rd gear... thats where the gs-r would start to pull on me.

dude, that doesn't help him at all . Ugh.... But anyways, you definately should practice launching your car. Oh yeah, that intake looks pretty damn good especially if you got it from ebay. Nice find

Yea I was pretty damn stoked about that find, i was like damn, for 99 cent, the 3 inch pipe is worth that!

I know I launched way low, but u guys, the measure my tires at walmart the other day when I had my oil changed, 3/32 all around, That is kinda low. I am gonna practice more over spring break, because Sunday it is back to college.

Oh yea, the intake came with no stickers on it, they just sent me a **** load of "image" racing stickers, so i cut the letters "mimic" out of it, and put it on there, and then put "performance" under it, just to mess around. The other, closer to the filter sticker just looked cool, so I put it on.

So I'm guessin you guys like the intake?

legal as in.... carb or what? I doubt it is carb, cause the company who sold it to me, they ar eon Ebay, and it came with no instructions, but what got me, is the tube is nicely finished, smooth on the inside, the coupling that connects the tub to the throttle body is thick, and tapered like a bottle neck, it came with all the hardware, and the hose.

i agree with everyone else. its the driver. a stock ls will take a stock gsr at the line anyday easy. the 1st month i had my stock 90 ls which was my first car not to mention the car i first started driving stick with i was able to launch just fine. i took my homeboys gsr at the line all the way up to the end of 2nd gear. then later on in the week i raced a crx si.. i got him by basically a full car length at the line and continued to pull on him. now thats only because he was a bad driver. all you need to do is just learn how to launch your car right and you'll be able to change up the loss at the start.

and yes modded LS aren't slow
