Default New NS-X Type R (out in Nov 2001 in Japan!!)

Here's the Scoop!

The new redesign NSX Type R will be released in November in Japan. It get a whole new lighter body and heaps load more torque! The curb weight is rated at only 1200kg which is right where the new Civic Type R and Integra Type R at.

I will post pics tonight!

Some disappointments

The rumor of a whole new 3.5L V-6 or 4.0L V-8 turns out to be untrue (at least for the Type R models) It will inherit the c32b from its older Type S bother, but with a little more zing.

Only will be sold in Japan

Only 487 will be made.

Damn, that's light. Is this an interim model or a complete revamp?

I assume it will be at TAS?

Wow... It should really be impressive then! I wonder if they can really stick with the 1200kg figure. It wouldn't be easy...

Have they always release the R version the first year? I thought it took time to tune a new car to perfection...

Looks like a rsx nose on a nsx midsection. The wing sucks. Looks like some crap you would see on a civic.

I guess its not that bad. It looks like its too high though.

No...it was 3 year into production for the last NS-X....this one will be released at the same time (like the Integra)

That just seems wrong. Like they rushed it to make money.

I can see the argument from here. Marketing vs. engineering. Looks like marketing won. It'll be interesting what the numbers look like.

I agree that the new version looks pretty bad. I still want an NSX, just not that body style. My only requirement is that it's a manual.

the price is still gonna be $90k? if so they would have alot of room to make this car the way they want it...and less than 500 cars is really limited!

Hmmm.... I wonder what a 91 NSX will go for when the new one is released. Hmmm...

Anyone know what engines will fit into a old nsx? Will a accord V6?

I heard that there was going to be a huge price jump when the new models hit, b/c they were supposed be much faster w/ lots more HP....this was a while ago I heard this though...

the last thing they should do is make the car more expensive

Why would you want to stuff an Accord V6 into an NSX?

there is little beancounting involved when you are talking about a production run of like 500 cars.

The NSX will be getting restyled for the 2002 model year. New lights fore and aft, plus a new wing. That NSX-R is based on the same old NSX that we know, look at the pillars. The second-generation NSX is still a couple years away, and will have a totally new bodystyle, and you can bet it will have a new i-VTEC engine.
