about a month ago, took out my cx tachless gauge, put in an si oem gauge. and while in neutral i blipped the gas and it moves instantly. so since it worked i drove it for about a three days and never even looked at the tach while driving <<( i know i know then why the hell do i have a tach). then i looked at it while driving and it is off by about 3,000rpm's . so im shifting at about 3,000 which is fine. but it will not go up passed that amount at the highest rpm on the engine. but yet it moves quickly and up to redine while in neutral??? ive tried my friends gauge and it does the same thing. so the tach works fine. just not while in gear and driving. wondering if anyone else has had this happen to. the distributor looks fine. and i figure since the signal works great in neutral, but not in gear, i dont see how the vss would come into play with this since it has nothing to do with the tach signal.. or maybe it does??? i dont know...and all gauge clips have been cleaned and are connected.


the needle was not taken off, but if i dont find any other clues i guess i will have to take it off and put it back on to see if that was the problem. maybe its moving inside somehow over time....but then that doesnt explain why my friends is doing the same thing? he bought his car brand new
