1.6 sohc VTEC suggestions (93 civic ex)
Would a AEM Tru-time cam gear and aem pulleys make a difference on a d16 motor? are there any suggestions period to make it run better with good top and bottom end (header, intake manifold, cam, etc)? the motor has 154,700 miles on it, and i gotta wait till the warranty runs out on the car to swap a b16a2 or something into it. Any suggestions would help thanks.

please explain to me why in the hell you want to waste money on a motor you will be taking out soon??
but to answer your question: no. you will still be slow with i/h/e cam gears and pulleys with that motor. save your $ for that swap.

yeah, don't waste money on a tired D16Z6............
It might run 12's if you treat it right.
Used, abused, unexcused, still making B's rethink.

i agree no need to put money into a engine you're gonna turn right around and take out. but ir you're gonna leave that engine and work on it, cam, cam gear, and pulley would be a good start on it
You tell them Bone.
Only the ignorant hate on the potential of the d-series.
If you want to build the the D search under the user name spade on here. He has done an extensive write up on the D-series, and always listen to what Mr. Bone says he definitely knows his stuff.

But never underestimate a D series!

it will help a little with the cam gear a dohc u notice a hell of alot more but u should see 3-4 hp depending on how much you adjust it and your timing, and the pulleys you see like 5 hp
i bought a cam gear becuz i got a greddy turbo kit so i retarded the timing to be on the safe side so. but you could always advance the timing to get a lil more power nothing track noticeable but the car's powerband will be smoother. i'm gettin ready to go 11's on my d16z6 but JG engine dynamics built my block
