i am lookin into replacing my shot b18b wit a b20. now i am only considering the b20 with the higher comp because i hear they are better for vtec anyways(thinkin later on vtec head w/stock bottom maybe). but anyways back to my question my previous b18b setup only made a shitty 122@whp w/112 torque and now with a b20b (JDM) will i be sure making more power than that????? all i had on the b18b was a cheap cold air intake and a exhaust. what killed me all the time was lack of top end. now with a 4-1 header maybe and a skunk2 IM would that help where the b18b left off??????
i ran a 14.8@92 consistantly with 2.1 60's and best of 14.7@94. i want to aim for about mid low 14s all motor on the b20 no vtec first. w/o the use of upgraded internals. what else would be needed to get to this goal? and also what b20b the years should i be looking for i kno i need to look for the ones with the factory knock sensor because the lower compression ones didnt have them. but what else should i be looking for the guy i talked to abuot buying a block said 97 up there where high compression b20b's but then i read from a thread here that 99+ up JDM b20b's had the higher compression not the 97s. just lookin for more insight someone help me lol.

correct me if im wrong but I believe the b20b has a cr of 8.8:1 and the b20z has a cr of 9.6:1

if you want to run low 14's high 13's with a b20, get a JDM ITR tranny. I run that with a b18b and a jdm itr tranny.

 

The 99-00 jdm b20b have the higher comp. Pull the head if possible, and check the pistons. They should be phk pistons.

Why not just get a usdm b20z?

cause i looked in nj and everyone was tryin to dick me on price. if u kno someone wit a b20z since u live in nj gimme a shout i got loot on me right now i just need my car to run.
