I was wondering what setup you might be running, as well as if you are using a fuel pressure gauge in conjuction with the setup.

What kind of car? Motor? FI? Carb?

 

This will be in a 1990 civic SI, prepped for ITA duty. So the engine is a D16a6, fuel injected.

 

I'm using Part #2533 from Pegasus ( http:// http://www.pegasusautoracing.com ) on my D16A6.

I simply ran mine off of the 2nd port of my adjustable FPR. Very simple. Very easy.

 

On top of the fuel filter is a plug that is removable and replaced with an adaptor to connect a fuel pressure testor for diagnostic purposes. The plug in and of itself is a fuel test "port".

17.4.2. Fuel Sample Acquisition
All cars shall be equipped with an easily accessible sampling valve/
port located between the fuel tank and the carburetor(s) or fuel
injectors to facilitate acquisition of fuel samples. To avoid fuel spillage,
the fuel sampling valve/port shall not consist of removing a fuel line
from any fuel system component unless a dry break fittinghas been
installed. A capped and/or sealed “T” may be fitted inline, or a capped
and/or sealed auxiliary sample port may be fitted to a fuel system
component (carburetor, fuel rail, etc.) without using a dry break fitting.
Under no circumstances is siphoning of fuel from the fuel tank/ cell
acceptable.
If possible, the sampling valve/port should not be located in the engine
compartment. Cars equipped with a factory fuel pressure test port
(e.g. fuel injected SS, T, IT, SRF, etc.) or competitors having factory
fuel pressure test equipment available, are not required to have an
additional fuel sampling port. On all other cars, to avoid fuel spillage
it is recommended that a valve or dry-break fitting be installed in the
fuel line. In all cases competitors shall provide the appropriate tooling
necessary to safely obtain the fuel sample. A manned fire extinguisher
shall be present whenever fuel samples are being acquired.

An adaptor can be purchased to go into the "port" to be used for samples or a fuel pressure guage.

 

Last year during tech, I debated this:

I am not sure exactly what "port" you are speaking of...is it the "service bolt" that is located on the fuel filter?

 

"port" = opening.
you got one. Yes its the service bolt on the fuel filter.

What come with the car satisfys the "port" requirement.

The removing fuel part requires an adaptor that replaces the service bolt and a hose.

 

My bad....it's off of my fuel pressure gauge, not the FPR. The FPR is right where it should be.

Grumpy hit the nail on the head. My gauge is threaded into the service port of the fuel filter and the sample port (OK, valve) is T'd off of that.



As you can see, it's a B&M gauge (and I need a pedicure) .

I bought a test port from this guy http://www.fuelports.com/ ...he was great, very inexpensive, great guy to do business with...very easy installation. I highly recommend him......

 

I use the fuelports.com one too. It replaces the banjo bolt on the fuel filter, took about 30 seconds to install, and the guy that sells them is pretty cool to deal with.

why are you still running that emssions circuit?

 

I used a B&M Fuel Pressure gauge that comes with a new "banjo" bolt. I then purchased a "street Tee", which it the T-style fitting in the middle. Then I added a the parts that are available off of fuelports.com

 

Home Depot plumbing section. Find 1/2 copper T and just use some fuel hose to connect it all together.

 

I bought the same B&M gauge but wasn't sure that else was needed. With the gauge sitting up that high from the top of the filter, have you guys had any problems or concerns about vibration since the lever moment ends up being longer?

I am guessing this is a mock up and not completed pic as there is no line to the fuel rail?

 

That is the "mock up," but all I have to do is teflon the fittings and bolt on the fuel rail line.

No vibration problems yet....of course the car hasn't been ran with this setup yet
