Default d16 vs b16?

I'm currently running a d16y8 and am wanting to do a swap to a b series. I have my heart set on the b18c1 or c5, either wont be a problem getting, however thats nto my question.

How much is the b16 different than the d16? aside from one being SOHC and the other DOHC. I've heard many times that the b16 has no torque, why is this? can it be compensated for with bolt ons? Or would it be more advisable to keep the d16 and supe that up?

Basicly i'm doing a dual project the b18 is going into my 98 Acura EL and being made into a show car.(for you americans who dont know. An EL is basicly a civic, but nicer and put out under the acura name and only sold in Canada) Also the second engine

I'm gonna keep my d16y8 and built it up while its out of the car and slap it in a ek later on and use it for drag. Or sell it and do up a b16 instead.

the b16 you can get more tunability with the two cams and it has a higher threshold than the d16 for power. personally if i had to choose and it was going to be nothing done with the block i'd go b16. but if you're going to redo all the internals then i would stick with the d16, just because it'd be pretty cool to push that to its limits n/a style

B16 come with 160 hp and 111 ft lbs. Alot better than a d16. When u beef it up it still better than a beef up d16.

buy a GsR swap..
Its just that simple.
Get out of the d-series as soon as you can. If you can only afford a b16, save for a little while longer and get a GsR.

From the sound of it, the EL wont really get much Hardcore track time and mostly going to be a show car. I'd stick with the D16 in there and turbo that setup. Since you arent going for Maximum power out of the Show car, why build up a B-series just to show it off and not even use the potential of it. A nice clean turbo D16 will look good as well with a front mount intercooler for the Show aspect of it.

Agreed. D16 turbo can be gnarly too if you want.
