clutch ?
I went out and looked at a car today. A silver 88 crx Si. I drove it aroudn the block and when I tried to shift, I had to make sure the clutch was all the way to the floor. I wasnt able to talk to the actual owner of the car because he is out of town. I was talking to his cousin. He told me that he has a stage one racing clutch. So my ? is the clutch going out or is that just the racing clutch? I talked to my dad because he used to race and he said on his old clutches you can adjust the firmness of the clutch, and how far you had to push it in to be able to shift. So is that it? Thanx in advance
It could be that you need to adjust the clutch. As a rule if you have to let the clutch almost all the way out to get it to engage it is usually shot. If the clutch starts grabbing right by the floor it is usually considered a good clutch. If the clutch is as new as he says he is ask to see the receipts. I personally do not believe any thing a seller says as far as internal parts go unless there is receipts to back up his story. I've seen way to many "20,000" mile motors that were rebuilt "two" years ago and you can tell that they were pressure washed and treated to a rattle can job. Remember Buyer Beware
