Default D16a1 Swap

What is need to do this swap? The Motor is coming from a 89 integra Ls. And the motor is going in to a 89 Hf crx. We have the whole Integra and all. This swap is for my friends dads car. He just wants a little bit more passing power than what he has. TIA. And yes i searched but it was not helpful info.

I don't understand why it would be so hard. A D16a1 is basically a ZC in shape and form isn't it?! I don't think this swap should take more than a couple hours.

The D16A1 uses the old mount setup from 3g civics don't let the D fool you. However 2 mounts do line up, the transmission mount and driverside mount are the ones you are going to have to fabricate. Don't let these guys make you think its extremely hard its quite simple if you can fab or have stuff fabbed for you.

hmm im in the exact position, i just got a 89 teg with a blown auto tranny. i want to put it into my 91 dx hatch. I was hoping i could use my tranny off my d15 and use the d16a1 block.
Is that gonna work? i would really like to know any problems im gonna run into...sorry for jacking your thread! i just really need to know

obviously you've never seen a D16A1 engine. for starters, it only has 3 mounts, therefore 2 cannot line up and 2 need to be fabricated.
2ndly, the drivers side mount is on the front of the engine, totally off from where it needs to be. the rear mount is nothing like a civic's rear mount and is in a different position as well. the passenger side mount is also on the front of the transmission.

whats the verdict? NONE OF THE MOUNTS LINE UP. good luck with your swap :/

Swapping the L3 tranny on the A1 is also an option, rather than using the D16a1 tranny and fabin mounts up. The a1 and (standard) D16 bell housing configs are not that much off. Check out http://www.quickhonda.net Kevin ran into a little problem when he accidently built up a 1g ZC and had to put it in his 89 crx si, He used the l3 tranny, with a custom driverside mount.

Good luck... but IMO it really isnt worth all the trouble.

2 boltholes don't line up on the tranny, custom mount has to be fabbed to go from drivers mount over to front of motor. Just look at Quickhonda's problems he had to go through on a D16A1 into his 88CRX.
Research here: Here's a hint it is in his second ZC build pages.
