IAT sensor "Modification" This thing bullshit?
I won this little "ITA-PRO" mod thing for the IAT sensor, ...I won it for a penny off ebay. I just wanted to see what it does, so I get three resistor looking things...like you played with in Physics class. Yeah. Anyway, theres a red for extreme, yellow for moderate and green for mild. I plugged the red one in what I thought was the IAT sensor on my LS, its the sensor that plugs into the IM intake port for cylinder #1 right? Well. I plugged it in there, check engine light came on...I did a run through 1st and 2nd...and it did feel different, but I can't tell if it actually helped. supposly, it modifies the fuel/air ratio, because it sends back a certain temperature to the computer? I dunno, if anyone has heard of this or knows if I plugged it into the right sensor ITA(Intake Air Temperature) let me know? And what does the ITA sensor do anyways? thanks.
Those are TOTAL bullshit dude, but for a penny, whatever.
The Intake Air Temp. sensor is tricked by the resistor into thinking that the intake charge is cooler (cold air will make your motor advance timing and adjust fuel slightly)
But if it is tricked and the air is actually hot, you will detonate.. be slower.. and kill your motor eventually.
DITCH IT!
