state referee fix it ticket
seems like alot of people are getting tickets now that tell you to go straight to the state referee. anyway to beat this without having to remove everything? i got a turbo kit, but he didnt even know i had turbo, never looked at it once. he wrote it up for modified intake and exhaust and stressed that i had to take it to the state referee immediately. anyone w/ experience in these situations, please help a fellow h-t member out. what a way to start the new year. i swear, ever since those stupid fast n furious movies came out, gettin alot more heat.
you can get your exhaust certified, but that's the only thing i could think of and should pass emissions anyway. the intake should pass if there's a CARB sticker. but i don't think there's any way to get around the turbo unless it's the greddy kit. don't have any experiences with turbo so i'm not sure about that one.
to get the muffler certified you have to get a ticket first. then you call up the smog guys (it's an 800 number) and set up an appointment. at the place they'll check to see if your car meets the sounds requirements. when you pass you'll get a BAR sticker and a certificate so cops can't hassle you anymore. you get 3 chances to pass. and make sure you don't change your muffler to stock because the name of the muffler is written on the BAR sticker as well as the VIN number.
...and i hate those movies for the same reason. i think biker boys and torque are gonna do the same for the motorcyclists.

im worried the most about the 500-700 dollar fine for it... if i take everything off and to the ref to make the car legit, will i still have to pay the 5-700?

sorry man, no clue. but i didn't mean you have to smog the car for the muffler certification, those are the guys you call. 800-622-7733. that's the number to set up an appointment in your area. they didn't smog the car for me, only tested noise levels.
i'm supposing if you get all of it cleared, the fine will be waived but you'd still have the pay the $10 court processing fee. (sucks how you have to pay even if there was nothing wrong with your car in the first place)

Ever though about slapping some Greddy Carb stickers on your turbo kit. I've had experiences with cops that pop my hood and seeing the Carb stickers, they let me go.

probably because it's lowered with exhaust. alot of people say you can say no when they ask you to pop the hood... but would you really say that to a cop? he could say all sorts of bs and no one can back you up.
