Default Buying a 93 GSR...

Hey all im new to the Honda scene I was a dedicated VW owner for 2.5 years and after that i had an S14 but now im into the honda.. hahaha anyhow Im picking up my 93 GSR next week and was curious about some gains. What could i expect to see for perfofmance from a DC 421 header, Skunk2 intake manifold, AEM intake, and greddy Sp exhaust? What kind of numbers should i be hitting with that? Also what is the GSR comparable to? Like power/times? Thanx and any other info you want to throw my way on the car is appreciated!

hey man, welcome to H-T.

First off I'll let ya know striaght up a lot of people are going to flame you for not searching. Since you are new you probably don't know much about it yet but for the most part, if you have any questions try searching the recent and archieved threads before posting. the search button is in the top right.

as for gains from all those items, not many people dyno their cars when adding just things like a header, or an intake, or exhaust... some do, but it'll be hard to find hard accurate numbers. also, a lot of people will argue that things like a 4-2-1 dc header is junk get this or get that and the like. for the most part, i'd estimate the skunk2 itm will be your best mod. i'd suggest you go with the hondata (or a similar) intake manifold gasket while you have the chance. you can search and learn quite a bit about them. your gsr will have a b17 which makes 170hp if i recall correctly... pretty rare motor, decent, but not quite as stout at it's big brother the b18c1 thats found in 94+ GSR's....

good luck man

Yeah i know of the search, I was hoping somone would be online and just give me some quick responces without making me do the work...hehe And I know all about Flaming.. haha I am coming from the very famous for being asses VWVORTEX I have had my serving of flames and dished it out the same. So ill put my Flame suit on and take the heat. But if anyone wants to give me some suggestions on parts thats fine also, If the Dc header is bad etc just tell me, 'cause like i said im new to this Honda Stuff.

i don't think anyone is going to say the DC is "bad" but their is better out there. As for buying parts i tore a two page ad from a magazine from some shop in Washington that has pretty damn impressive prices on aem intakes and i think their dc prices were pretty good as well. it was a blue two page ad with pricing and color pictures... i'll try to find their number.

in no particular order and i'm sure we don't all feel the same way but anyways:
intake: AEM, Iceman, Injen, Comptech
Header: DC, GReddy, Comptech, AN-R, HyTech, sure i'm leaving some out here.....
Exhaust: GReddy SP, Apexi WS, HKS ???, and Comptech are about the same style
Catalytic Convertor: Random Technologies, CarSound (if you care about being legal)
Intake Manifold: Skunk2 is gonna be ideal for your mods, imo

I would imagine you would hit a mid 14 with thos mods depending on elevation, tires, wheels, driver, etc.... this is a coupe, right?

woohoo, another gsr! you should go to http://www.g2ic.com , it'll be your bread and butter for all the info you will need for your car. how many miles are on the car?

before doing anything to the car i would do all the usual maint., change oil, tranny fluid, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, check your cam plug (b-series achilles for leaking), timing belt, water pump, ac & ps belts, radiator hoses, thermostat and change your vtec solenoid gaskets (very important for a 10 yr old car).

oh yeah, change your sig, its not a DA GSR its a DB2 chassis code.

I'm a member of G2IC too. Good site plenty of helpful people. Don't take the shortcuts when it comes to cars. Searching and doing research on topics is half the fun. Anyways since you won't do the research your self. I'm guessing high to mid 14's with a good driver.
