Def not a good idea for a stock GSR motor. Don't go past 8100. No reason to either. My GSR starts dropping in power after 7500 rpms and it has basic boltons. You will blow teh motor if you go much past 8100 unless you upgrade some parts...

i am suprised that i havent blow it up already then b/c everytime i run it i rev that high
(normally shift at like 8900rpm) and it seems to be faster b/c when i shift into the next gear i am already in vtec which is nice and grab 3rd like a mother even wit a stock clutch wit 80k on it which is fun

maybe like 8400 topps if stock cams/springs.

shifting at 7k will drop you above vtec too!

shift at 8900 then your next gear will be in vtec?

how do you feel faster?

any dyno will show you that the a stcok gsr will make peak power around redline which is 7800-8100ish. reving that high has no use what so ever especially on stock c1

I have stock ecu and redline at 8100, and I can still shift and stay in VTEC.

no! vtec is at 4400 rpm.

Intake air bypass system(secondaries) are opened at 5750... and those need a hard shift at 8100 to hold open, or maybe 8300/8400 with an easy shift.

Above that is a waste and dangerous unless you have cams/springs and some boltons.

Guaranteed.

You've shown you don't know much about your car already... and this just further goes to show it.

I just answered those q's 2 posts above you, and yes thay changed the ITR to a single intake runner manifold (vtec is "single stage" in all b18c1/5's)

AND... im suprised your "JDM ITR ECU" is controlling the runners anyway, you sure its not just a chipped p72?

the stock b18c1 camshaft profile combined with the 10:1 compression ratio requires more air around 5500 rpms to make the power transition from the torque curve to the HP curve.

The vtec helps little in the low rpms, so there is no real "kick" in the low range.

The power curve combined with the shorter intake path allows a "kick" in the high rpms.

The vtec does help more in the long run... try disabling it and reving to 8k
But, unhook the secondaries and it still gets there fairly quick.

and dropping the point of your secondaries opening to about 5500rpms helps to stay in that range when you shift at around 8k.

Any lower than 5400rpms and you lose torque and MPG.

Did you stop to think that maybe, just maybe his ecu moved the vtec activation as it did the redline?

Well... Seeing as he said he has a JDM Type R ECU...it would be running from the single stage VTEC program, correct?

So maybe...just maybe... his ECU DIDNT move the vtec activation point as it did the redline?

True...I was thinking Mugen program and didn't realize that he had the Type R ecu. My Mugen chipped ecu for my old setup had the same rev limit but a 5,400 vtec activation. So maybe, just maybe...you are right

you probably wont make any power past 7600 rpm. might need to upgrade your valve train (cams, valve springs and retainers, etc) maybe cam gears , also tune your car maybe on a dyno to get the most out of mods and xtra rpm.

Rev it to 8200 and you'll be fine. The point where you drop off after you shift is where it counts.

My GSR when it was stock made power well into the high 7s so I just took it a bit higher so the RPMs wouldn't fall that far after I shifted.
