I was just wondering if anyone knew the differences between the stock ITR shifter (which is supposedly the same as the gsr shifter?) and the stock EG shifter, if there are any. I'm only talking about the shifter itself, not any of the linkage parts. And I know some of the itr shifters came polished.... I don't care about that, just wondering about dimensions.

i believe the itr shifters have shorter throw than of the eg shifters. not to mention they are S shaped and not straight.

 

can you use an ITR shifter in an EG and have any problems?

 

since when are the EG shifters straight? I have one in my car right now and it has a dual bend.

I pulled it out of my friend's 94 si when I did his b18c swap. But actually.... now that I think about it, maybe we mixed them up? maybe we put the EG shifter back in his car when we did the swap? and the gsr shifter is in my car? hmm, now you're making me doubt myself, I thought for sure that I was using his EG shifter. Are you sure the stock EG shifters are straight?

 

if it matters you can use a teg shifter with a civic linkage.. i used the sk2 dual bend shifter with my z6 motor.. i recommend the sk2.. shifting for my car felt stock yet was twice as short.. felt good...

EG's shifters are have a much longer throw then a stock ITR shifter. ITR shifter is the same as a GSR/LS but it is polished/chrome. It might be made out a slightly different material. I have an ITR shifter for sale if anyone wants it, comes with Type R style shift **** too!

 

The ITR/GSR shifter is a double bend and the civic (eg) shifter is straight, i think it has a slight curve to it. I really like the ITR/GSR shifter, especially in a civic. My friend has the GSR in his hatch with new bushings and it feels good, really stiff.

I hear the only problem with putting the ITR/GSR shifter in an EG is with the linkage, you have to sorta bend the linkage out a bit. Where the linake connects to the shifter, you just bend out the tabs a bit so its able to fit around the GSR shifter. There should be a thread floating around a while back that explained what to do. Its not a big deal. But I do know for a fact it fits!

 

so you're 100% sure the EG shifter is straight? If thats the case then I must have ended up w/ his gsr shifter. Because its definitely a dual bend. And it was pretty wide at the bottom... I cut it down a bit so it would fit my linkage.

 

I got a ITR shifter in my car. its shorter throw than the stock eg. but that could also be the ITR linkage with the ITR LSD tranny. any whom works fine for me
