Default A good way to get rid of fade on carbon fiber!

Someone recomended this on HT . Does this work?

This is 3M’s most versatile rubbing compound. It safely removes grade 1200 or finer scratches, medium oxidation, coarse swirl marks and water spots. Designed for the detailing professional, Perfect-It Paste Rubbing Compound can safely be used by the enthusiast to restore neglected, oxidized or scratched surfaces. This compound can be applied by hand or machine and is safe for solid color, metallic and clear coat finishes.

After compounding, follow with Perfect-It Swirl Mark Remover or Imperial Hand Glaze and finish with your favorite wax.

Note to paint & body shops: 3M Perfect-It Paste Rubbing Compound contains no wax or silicones. It is paintable and safe for use in a paint shop environment.

Net weight 18 oz.

will this alone be enough to remove the fade? by fade do you mean the kind of yellow look it gets when the sun hits it?

Bringing the thread back to life....Very interesting. My Seibon Hood with only 6 months of use have been fading hard on me. My whole hood looks greenish and i got orange spots. Ill try this product out though. BTW, what brand hoods have you guys use this product on?

Man this is uncomforting to hear. I just spent nearly $500 on my carbon fiber trunk. To have it fad in 6 months?! I should have stuck with stock The only recommendation I heard was to wax it every month.

good info.

Im having this same problem but it took 2 years. I got a few questions I'd like to know.......

So you have to wet-sand the hood, then spray the 3m stuff on then buff it out? that's it?

Do you have to wet sand it?

What if it don't work should i re-clear coat it?, if i do that should i wet sand it then buff it or just buff it?

I had the same problem with my hood but the only thing I did different was I clay barred my car first and the results were amazing afterwards.

You cannot re clearcoat a CF hood, they use a "gel coat".
