Default Opinions on MiniMe

I have been getting mixed reviews from mechanics about the minime swap (D16z6 Vtec head on a D16a6 nonvtec block) i have never seen anyone in my area with this setup because people here usually go bigger. But, i wanna try this. For those of you that have a lot of knowledge in this setup, please give me some opinions and tips. Ive heard that this swap highers Compression Ratios (my d16z6 head is milled) and add VTEC! Im having a hard time finishing taking off the old head.

if you have obd0, which im assuming you do since your block is an a6, you'll have to switch to obd1 for a vtec head.

this is a calculator that will give you a very accurate reading of just how much it the swap will raise your compression

There a reason why people don't do mini me swap. my advice is if you want to stick with Sohc Vtec, invest into either a d16z6 or d16y8 or jdm zc sohc vtec engine. Why mix and match parts? you really think you gonna notice a big difference by changing head? you still be a 16 sec car. You can try whatever you like, but on a bigger picture, your just wasting your time on this d16a6/ z6 setup.

The D16A6 is actually very underrated. I would just add a decent header to it and an intake. But you can do the mini-me if you'd like. People generally don't do the mini me because there isn't a huge difference in numbers.

n*werk - I don't know where you got that opinion on 'not noticing a difference by swapping heads.' There is a ton of performance that comes out of the head.

Have you ever dyno a d16z6 and then dyno a d16a6 with a z6 head? Was there a huge difference in performance?
