why not? the bulb may go out sooner, but its a wonderful safety feature. many day-time accidents are caused by not being very visible. drl's help make you more visible. maybe its just me, but i think it is a great feature and i am glad both of the mercedes have it. i turn my teg's lights on all the time. maybe its peace of mind... otherwise, i can't answer your question. although i would assume its a fuse or switch that can be disconnected. the usdm honda's don't have drls. they aren't mandated in the states like in canada.

you asked a question and he tried helping you as best as he could. as he said we don't have DRLs here on those models as they were not required. if you want help from these guys i'd suggest you be nice. good luck to you. and happy new years!

Thats funny I got a simular answer to one of my lighting questions. I like yourself would like to have the option of turning lights on or off. sometimes it's nice not to have lights on or off but the car dictates this. I think the Ebrake effects this, when I take mine off the lights go on. you might want to start there.

Look at the fuse box located under the steering wheel. There are two fuses for the left and righ DRL. Remove both of those fuses, and you DRL is disabled.

That's funny!
Your trying to disable DRL and I just got finished installing it.
To bad you couldn't just remove the harness and sell it. Huh.
Good luck

Thanks!
Here's a few pics I snapped on the way home from work today

For the DRL I used some sweet Gold 9006 (HB4-Lowbeam) bulbs, A pilot foglight wire harness, a round rocker switch w/ LED incase I want to turn them off, and a 2 in1 mini Add-A-Fuse outlet which was pluged in the cig. lighter fuse outlet in the fuse box under the dash.
That way the lights automatically turn on and off with the car.
It was sort of a trial and error thing, But ended up a perfect and unique (Unique in Tampa maybe...Haha)mod.
What do you think... You likey?

That's why we have the JDM conversion!

i always wondered if those wanting drl could simply put the fuses in and maybe change a pigtail or two.... guess not

-Erik <--- who hates DRL. I run my lites during the day but don't care for the two center lights being on... makes the car look skinny, if you will

It's a '99. The frontends... You have the 94-97 which has the solid round lights, the 98-01 which is like mine and of course the JDM conversion.
As for the wing...It stays!
I think it fits the lines (same type of subtle curves) of the OEM ITR 5 piece kit, Plus if it comes off I'll have 8 holes I have to patch on the quarter panels and hatch...Thats to much paint and body work to pay for at the moment...I'd rather spend the money on the motor.
If you click here [URL]Here's my CarDomain pages, More pics and mod lists are here.

Thanks for the complements.

my friend tried doing it to his car, and it didn't work. it did work on my EF, however.

thats a nice looking car you have there. the only reason why i want the daytime running lights turned off is because the DRL lights are the same as the night time lights. i'd like to have DRL, but without the taillights on, and the lowbeams on.

Well...I ran a completely independant harness with toggle switch and power access to the OE fuse box.
The tail lights don't come on when DRL is on.

And thank goodness. I have the smarts to figure out when to turn their lights on.

if you want to install or disable DRL it is a plug in module, you do not need to pull fuses, .sorry no pics of location
