...98 Spec would you leave it as it came from the factory? I currently have a JDM Si (GSR) which i've kitted with a mugen kit, mugen suspension, mugen exhaust, rims etc etc, and i'm selling it and have bought a 98Spec JDM ITR (I live in europe and these are pretty easy to get and need no modification/SVA to drive on the roads here) The car is still in japan and takes 6-8 weeks to get here. Its completely original with nothing done to it and only 26k miles on the clock. I was thinking about mugen skirts (I could even keep my current ones and repaint them!) and mugen front bumper/spoiler, but i like the car as standard too, should i just leave it as it is or keep my current skirts and get the front bumper to go with them.....opinions please??????
If you're in scotland (ur location gave me a clue!!), I would keep it standard, I only know of 1 other JDM ITR, let alone a '98 spec!!!!
Best thing to do I get used to driving it first go to a few track days and then go from there.
I have a '96 spec and have stripped the back out, put Group N1 Tarmac Rally susp on, Kakimoto race exhaust, Fujibitsu exhaust manifold and got a upper rear strut bar (InvoAuto one
) (not much really
)
The "problem" with these cars is that it only takes one "wrong" mod engine/chassis and it totally destroys the car.
First mod tho if you have to is the breathing, go to http://www.tokyo-express.co.uk/index.html, then sort out an ITG magnex(?), spoon n1 exhaust, and then get it Unichipped. IM for a good place to go!!
That's my 10p worth.....

I don't understand why everybody on this board has to ask what they should do to their cars. Why don't you do what makes you happy instead of try to please others?

Well maybe if you had asked for the board's opinion, you would not have taken a die grinder to your Spoon calipers.

I'd personally leave it and drive it all stock. Anytime you buy a used car, you are still taking a risk so save your dough for unexpected "situations". In other words, save your money and enjoy your new investment. I just picked up a 97 CW with 24k and it's all stock. If or when the novelty wears off, I may think about moding. In the meantime, be happy with what you have. I think guys should only mod their R's with some type of goal in mind, i.e. autocross, drag, track, whatever...
There's no harm in having a stock caR

I mainly did it so I could hear all the girls cry on here
Plus who else would have tried to fit Mazda rims over spoon calipers with no spacers?

For the most part, I'd treat it exactly the same as a USDM ITR.
The only exceptions I can think of are changing the headlamp projectors to be LHD-friendly (unless I lived in a RHD country) and adding a modified USDM bumper support.
Or maybe I'd wreck it so insurance could pay for a USDM front clip.

I agree, leave it stock. But one day that damn bug is going to bite, and when it does it usually bites hard (for me anyways).

If you are like many enthusiasts on this board you will eventually want to modify the car. You'll want to do a few HPDE's in stock form to get the feel of the car but after you find the, for lack of a better word... deficiencies in the handling, power, etc. the performance bug is going to hit you and that'll be the end of your stock R.
At least for me that's how it works. I say I won't touch it but I eventually do. Then again, I'd do it to any car I own, whether it be a Civic, Evo 8, '69 Z-28, F355, whatever... You always want more! hehe!

I do live in a RHD country so the lighst shine in the correct direction. I'm seriously considering pulling the mugen skirts of my current car to use on the ITR and then try and source a mugen bumper from japan or where ever....then i'll see from there. I've owned 11 hondas and i've modified every single one to date, so this one will probably end up the same if theres something i dont like about it......

obviously you've owned a modified integra, so i suggest driving your ITR around for a while, and DECIDING YOURSELF what you want to do, that too hard?

After paying for it, i'll probably be broke for quite a while so it'll stay stock for a period, and then i'll see how things go.
BTW i'm not from scotland, although i agree with you hybrider, rangers do SUCK!!
O/T Hibernia is the old celtic name for Ireland not scotland as everyone seems to think, its celtic name is Caledonia.
